Neon Pink and Black with Distressed Denim and a Glass Pendant

Neon pink and black - Over 40 fashion

This time of year is perfect for wearing blazers, and my eons-old trusty black blazer will tone down or smarten up all manner of outfits.

With my floral neon pink top and some distressed jeans it’s a perfect weekend look for the autumn, and the fact that I can still wear open-toe shoes without freezing my tootsies off makes me very happy. The star of this outfit for me is, however, the fabulous pendant that was kindly gifted to me from Eternal Collection, a family-run company in Scotland that makes exclusive, handmade costume jewellery.

I have written this post in collaboration with Eternal Collection. All content is original, however, and opinions are my own and 100% honest.

They use Murano glass jewellery from Venice (the material used to make my pendant), sterling silver jewellery from Mexico and semi-precious gemstones and pearls. I’m wearing the Grazia black multi Venetian Murano glass pendant, and I love the fact that each one is unique… the patterns made in the glass by the gold, black and silver swirls is beautiful (see the close-ups below).

I think the black blazer and the neon pink gives it the perfect “frame” to really shine – I find that wearing the right necklines and colours are important to show off a necklace (and can be tricky to get right). The wrong neckline or fabric can ruin a beautiful piece of jewellery, so I find I often wear a particular necklace (especially if it’s a statement piece) with the same items of clothing each time. From these pictures I can see that this pendant needs a light or bright colour and a high neckline, so I’ll be sticking with that formula in future when I wear it.

Do you find that you often wear the same pieces of jewellery with certain outfits? How do you know if it’s working – are you like me and see from photos that you’re onto a winner? Do share in the comments!

Below are some of the other pieces that I considered – none of the ones I’ve featured are over £45 so you can see their prices are incredibly reasonable. With 1,713 earrings, 170 bracelets and 504 necklaces to choose from (plus accessories and clip-on earrings), there is a vast selection to suit all budgets in every colour and material imaginable.

My pendant arrived in the most beautiful gift box, and information on care and authenticity was included as well – if you’re thinking about Christmas presents (yes, I said the “C” word) you can’t go wrong!

Thanks Lauren! You've reminded me I have a deep green velvet blazer that I really should wear more often! x

I used to save my blazers strictly for work and then realized how great they are with distressed jeans. I love this outfit and how the pink pops against the black.

BTW, I hope you will join in TBT Fashion link up tomorrow.

You look beautiful as always! I'm a little envious of your ability to still wear open-toed shoes. . . 🙂

Thank you Jenn!! To be honest September has been unusually warm for the UK – it's been nicer than August was, in fact. So no scorching August like a lot of places (just wet and miserable); a nice September instead. I'm desperate to keep going without socks for as long as my feet will take it!! C x

I love the neon pink with distressed jeans. Sporting an equally neon top today myself.. Trying to keep summer alive. I love Instagram for storing my outfit choices. Then I can see what works well and what doesn't.

Neon definitely helps to keep summer alive, doesn't it ;)) And Instagram, Pinterest – they're all so helpful to us for just getting dressed every day!! What DID we do without them…?!
      Thanks so much sweetie x

Oh gosh… This is going to cost me money. I love the jewellery. Very contemporary, guilded (I cannot wear anything else than silver or gold – allergic to anything else). And indeed very reasonably priced.
Love your pendant and the necklace (so simple yet so right), they hung it on).
You have styled it beautifully. And yes I often wear the same jewellery with the same outfit (finally found somebody who does this too) and indeed neckline, fabric, pattern and colour are all very important while choosing the right jewellery.

We're most definitely on the same wavelength, Greetje!! You're a master of pairing jewellery with the right items of clothing, and apologies about introducing you to Eternal Collection (heehee) – but aren't their pieces LOVELY?!! Like I said to Patti – they're very "you", as well!! Thank you so much xx

I love this pendant and although I don't really wear jewellery I think I understand what you were saying about wearing a piece of jewellery with an outfit that would make it shine. I love this blouse and the pendant really does stand out against it! I think you've got this look spot on 🙂 Love your hair in these pictures by the way.

Thanks Yazmin! I have paired some pieces of jewellery with clothes that sort of hid or obscured them in the past, so I was pleased to get this spot-on :))

I must say I think my aim of showing off the necklace has really worked, Daniella (even if I say so myself, hehe)!! Thanks my lovely x

I thought the necklace was very "you", Patti – I can see you wearing it!

    Beautiful sweater and jacket 🙂

  11. 23 September 2014 / 2:14 pm

Hahaha, the "C" word, oh my Gawd, noooo!!! I love this pendant, we have a few Murano stores and I've always wanted to own one, but they're a bit pricey for me 😀
Loving that blazer, it fits you so well and the crazy hairdo is my favorite!

    • 24 September 2014 / 4:06 pm

Yep it's that crazy, dirty hair again!! I do rather like it myself but I keep thinking, I really must wash it…!! Thanks Keit, so much x
