Sartorial Love: The Perfect Leather Jacket & The Vintage Skirt

My Vintage Skirt Found The Perfect Leather Jacket

The last time I wore this skirt on the blog was almost exactly a year ago, when I named the post Vintage Girl Seeking Handsome Leather Jacket.

And that was exactly what I wanted to pair with this much-loved vintage skirt, but my quest to find The Perfect Leather Jacket had been a fruitless one for about 10 or 15 years…

… until this year. I found it, waiting patiently for me at the shops, hiding under a removable faux fur collar and desperate to be united with the nautical pleated skirt. It knew I wouldn’t mind the fact that it’s not real leather, despite my theory that The Perfect Leather Jacket needed to be just that. Nor did I mind in the slightest that it was easy on the wallet, because the fit was just right and it was so soft, just like really expensive buttery leather. No, I just knew the two of them were meant to be together. And they met, and they fell in love.

And that is the story of how a vintage skirt came to find its true love in the form of a faux leather biker jacket.

The story will continue, albeit in a not-so-happy way: How The Jealous Vintage Skirt Coped With The Infidelity of The Perfect Leather Jacket. Stay tuned folks πŸ˜‰

Glad to see you are considerate of your closet relationships… that didn't come out quite right. I mean that I love your jacket-skirt drama. Also love the process notes. And, absolutely love the outfit. I'm always reassured that your bright taste comes across age-just-right. Gives me hope I'll get better with color one of these days. Inspiring, always, even if you are such a young whippersnap!

Such lovely comments from you all – thank you so much! Seems whenever I roll out these boots they're very popular, so for a pair I wasn't too keen on when I first got them, they've proven a great buy as they're my favourites!

Thanks everyone, hope you've all had great weekends xoxo

It beats me how you can combine so many colours and make it look so good. And also so many styles. You are so cool.

HOLY COW CATHERINE. This is totally unrelated to your post, but I'm watching the movie "Please give" and Catherine Keener in it looks SO MUCH LIKE YOU!

I'm sure I'm not the first person who's noted that, but wowza that resemblance is uncanny!!

Thank you (you didn't give your name) – no I haven't heard that one before… and although I do know CK I just Googled her to see some images, and yes I can see what you mean! Though there is someone else I've been likened to, and even I think I look like (so much so that sometimes pictures of her spook me out) – the actress Emily Mortimer? If you don't know her, Google her, you may or may not agree?!! C x

Love the shirt/belt/skirt combination – and of course not a bad topper with the jacket πŸ™‚
(Good things come to those who wait, after all)

It IS a great jacket! Lovely to see it and the skirt so happy together for the moment, despite the inevitability of it cadding about, yeah? On the edge of my seat waiting for the next dramatic instalment! πŸ™‚ xoxo

what a lovely story – but to wait 15 years, that is patience! The jacket is great of course, and the perfect partner for your nautical skirt, but I really do like your boots too, and the belt. Taking the photos on a field is just brilliant! A very inspiring post altogether!

I just never found one I liked enough to justify the money, Kaffe (when I thought it had to be the soft, expensive real leather)! Thanks so much my lovely xoxo

Congratulations on finding your perfect leather jacket Catherine!!! I love it to, it has a great fit. I also love your printed skirt, love the contrast it creates styled with the jacket! The brown boots and belt compliment the mustard colour of your top beautifully! πŸ™‚

    Take care,

Lovely outfit. I've been catching you on Pinterest more than on the blog but enjoy seeing you and your pins almost as much.
