How to Style Boyfriend Jeans - With Lace and Summer Sandals + the #iwillwearwhatilike Link Up

Styling summer denim: White lace top, loose jeans, orange strappy sandals, rose gold choker necklace | Not Dressed As Lamb
I've had a bit of a recurring theme this summer: All white (or mostly white) with punches of colour. Although these boyfriend jeans were lemon yellow when I bought them, they've definitely faded to a cream colour - not something I mind. It means I always have a comfy pair of pale, summery jeans to wear: Result!

This week's #iwillwearwhatilike theme is summer sandals, moved on a week after the washout we had the weekend before. I'm clutching onto the last days of summer - with sandals and white lace - in the hopes that we get an Indian summer come September as this year we've pretty much had yet another lousy season. No more than two or three nice days in a row, and that to me doesn't a summer make.

I'M CLUTCHING ONTO THE LAST DAYS OF SUMMER - WITH SANDALS AND WHITE LACE - IN THE HOPES THAT WE GET AN INDIAN SUMMER COME SEPTEMBER

As you may know from my many posts featuring boyfriend jeans, I'm always looking for new ways to style them. You know what my favourite thing about them is?

SHOP THE LOOK:

It's the fact that they work with just about every shoe style. So you can always, always dress up a pair of loose fit jeans with a strappy sandal or heels: Roll up the hem to show off some ankle, pick your fave heels and you're good to go. I added my white lace top (last seen here in my tribute to Madonna at Live Aid outfit!) and my favourite part of the outfit - the choker.

I totally stole the idea from Lisa AKA The Sequinist - it's actually one of Lizzy O Boutique's diamante wrap bracelets worn as a choker. I have a few different sizes and they're the perfect size for your neck as well as your wrist... Who knew that would work so well?!

And don't forget - do add your outfits to this week's link up and you may be featured next week if you've linked up some fabulous summer sandals!

#iwillwearwhatilike | Not Dressed As Lamb
Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist's list of "inappropriate" items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

The link up goes live every Monday at 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you're wearing whatever you damn well like!

  3. Yes---I am clinging to summer. The proof? The post I linked is white dresses (which I absolutely love) and we're all wearing strappy sandals!! It'll be cold before I know it...I'm not going to rush it!
Man, I love those red sandals with the yellow jeans---from one angle I can see the yellow, but from another, they do look more ivory!
I think chokers are so fun---what a great idea to check my bracelets---thanks!

  5. Those sandals are fabulous, Catherine! And I am huge fan of boyfriend jeans because of their amazing versatility! I have some Boho Betty wrap bracelets and I thought the same thing...they would make perfect chokers. But alas, I have gained some weight...apparently in my neck! But just a few pounds away from gorgeous wrap bracelet chokers!

  7. I love how you styled your boyfriend jeans! I have a denim and a white pair and I wear the denim all the time - not the white pair. Thanks for the ideas, I'll be restyling mine now. LOVE your sandals, happy you got to take them out for a stroll. Oh, and the sunnies - so chic!

  9. Great summer outfit. I love the added pop of colour with the shoes. And great idea to use your bracelet as a choker. Autumn is flirting with us and clothing choices are a challenge. Too hot too cold.

  10. There's so much goodness going on here I don't even know where to start! You know I love a good pair of boyfriend jeans and these are perfection! Paired with the orange/red sandal...utterly gorgeous. We go back to school next week so that is pretty much a guarantee that the temps will rise into the 90's, happens every year...and we don't have air conditioning!!

  11. I am a fan of boyfriend jeans, and I aim to wear more jeans this fall season. Those look great with the saucy red strappy heel. I am in love with block heels as well.
It is still in the 90s in Charlotte, so summer a bit more
    have a great week

  15. Personally, I can't wait for Summer to be over. We barely had Fall last year, no Winter for that matter (I do believe it was merely a week of the chills), so low temperatures would be very welcomed this year :)

  16. I love how cheery and summery these red sandals are. Your bracelet as a choker looks fabulous, really as sparkly as any piece of jewellery. Gorgeous as always, Catherine. xx

  17. Those sunglasses really knock me out. I suspect they'd look great with my darker, auburn locks. ASOS is a bit complicated to shop from if you're in Canada but I might give it another try.

As for summer: it's not for me! I'm so white, and the red in my hair informs my whole body to just hate summer. We had a lot of clouds and rain this year and, unlike most people, I was glad for it.

The post I shared this time is an outfit post -- a vintage, grunge, sundress -- but the content is also very heavy (not a surprise from me, I guess). I put a trigger warning at the top of it.

  20. I'm still clinging on to Summer for dear life! The nights are already drawing in :-( I'm a big fan of boyfriend jeans too - like you say, they just work with any type of footwear. I love the white lace top...so pretty, and those sandals are just gorgeous :-)

  24. Slowly, slowly, I've been adding more and more pops of colour to my OWN wardrobe, dearest Catherine...thanks to your wonderful influence!! :D These red sandals totally take your white-on-white ensemble from simply chic to summertime "hot"...and I'm very envious of those statement-making sunnies, too!! XOXO

  27. Love the outfit, I am never sure about boyfriend jeans being a size 16 not sure if they ever suit, what do you think? Summer for me has been a bit hit and miss. I live in the Lakes which is amazing, when the sun is shining it is always so beautiful but then very busy as everyone comes out, then when the weather is rubbish everyone hides but then that is why the Lakes are so beautiful because of the mixture of sunshine and rain. So I pretty much always struggle to juggle between summer clothes and coat and wellies. Love reading your posts.

  28. Style wise summer never really happened for me. Been working 6 days a week in hideous uniform :(. However I much prefer Autumn clothes and a month off is getting me excited for boots and knits and boyfriend jeans!

I LOVE your red shoes, they lift the outfit from classy to perfection
