Two weeks ago on the blog I wore my new Stine Goya shirt which looks very vintage, so my love for that and my love for all the stunning outfits Beth wore in TQG officially have me poring over Etsy and eBay for bold vintage shirts and blouses. Because 2020/21 have become the years of the Zoom call, the top half is what’s important right now.
And oh, how I’m enjoying my love affair with 60s and 70s patterns and prints, and the joy that comes with scoring the perfect one.
Case in point: this incredible orange, lime, brown and white spot/geometric patterned vintage 70s shirt. As you can imagine, my heart did a little leap when I clocked it…!

It was crying out for gold jewellery, so I dug out my vintage lion pendant (first worn here, last worn here) and added another gold link necklace at the collar. The colours in the shirt were picked out by the trousers, and the tones of the snakeskin belt worked with them too.
(I have an amazing snake belt/necklace from the 80s that my mum gave me that I’m sure will feature one day… vintage jewellery might be my next big obsession. I can feel it.)
The best thing about these vintage shirts? I’m making my fashion slower and trying to avoid New as much as possible. Not increasing my carbon footprint where my vintage shirt obsession is concerned.
This is ACTUALLY the outfit I wore that day, all day, round the house. I decided I wanted to dress up again and not spend the day in jeans or sweats or just fitness clothes. I did my hair. I did my makeup. And BOY did it do wonders for my wellbeing. Now that the light seems to be just at the end tunnel – following Boris’s announcement of the road map till June – it’s brightened my mood no end.
There’s even glorious sunshine today that’s also predicted for the next seven days – how’s about that for positivity? I went for a run on Monday for the first time since before Christmas so it’s great to get that back on track again. Although this post is two days late (#busy) I’m feeling good about things (not just due to my slow fashion spending spree). It was overdue.
Stay safe, XOXO
