Best of the Blogosphere + How January Doesn’t Have to Be the “Depressing” Month

If you’re after angles on midlife’s good and bad points, thoughts on being nice to Melania Trump, tips for visiting Disneyland and some worrying facts about faux fur, then you’re in the right place…!

My Best of the Blogosphere – Unmissable Links post is a monthly round up of things I’ve seen, watched and liked in the blogosphere that I’m sure you’ll love too.

I know January can be a depressing month for many, but I think we should look positively towards this year… I know many people are unhappy about the weather, the political changes, the uncertainty in all sorts of things – and more. But we have to do our best to make the most of what we have, appreciate the right-here-right-now, cherish those we love… and then fight when we have to fight. A totally and utterly sloppy sentiment I know, but there’s no point trying to outweigh the good with the bad and letting the good stuff go unnoticed.

WE HAVE TO DO OUR BEST TO MAKE THE MOST OF WHAT WE HAVE, APPRECIATE THE RIGHT-HERE-RIGHT-NOW, CHERISH THOSE WE LOVE… AND THEN FIGHT WHEN WE HAVE TO FIGHT.

So put on a classic feel-good movie. Wear something colourful. Make a point of saying good morning to every stranger you see (even the miserable-looking ones). Don’t let an opportunity to take pleasure in the simple things in life pass you by…!

Anna’s post about vintage fur versus faux is especially thought-provoking – did you know about the environmental impact of the manufacture of faux fur?

Why being kind to, not cyber bullying, Melania Trump is what we should be doing (it does not make us better women to do the latter).

Sarah explains how to spend money on yourself and your happiness, because we really, really should.

A post about how buying fake followers affects all of us – and not in a good way.

The most beautiful warm, workwear outfit I’ve seen this month: Smart pink and grey layers. That coat! Those trousers!

As someone who’s planning a long US east coast trip this summer, Ashley’s tips on how to have the best Disneyland experience (I’m going to Disneyworld but I figure it’s still helpful) are invaluable.

The best of the Over40Collective this month

This is a section where I share the best post from each member of the O40Co. Enjoy! 🙂

Nikki ponders what midlife in the twenty-tens is – her views are so astute and, as she says, it’s not all about the chronological and the menopause (though she does cover that too).

Absolute proof that pattern mixing works with Liz’s wonderful florals and leopard print combo.

I’ve always believed that leather trousers look better on older women, and Annette has featured 25 stunning looks for faux leather leggings with lots of shopping links to get the look.

How HRT is helping Michelle through menopause… So much useful information from someone going through what we’ll all go through one day.

Even when doubt sets in, there are many reasons to be confident in midlife, as so pragmatically explained by [the other] Michelle.

Kudos to Lisa for wearing this incredible sheer, dark floral maxi dress to run errands…!
