In these Covid times, all of that frivolity feels like it should be so hedonistic, and I’ll be honest – it felt it. Eating with other people around a table – oooh. Having drinks – hang on a minute. Being told we were allowed to dance… lead me to that dance floor!!
It was our first proper outing since the pandemic started – yes, we’ve been out for meals and even had a family garden party, but we haven’t done anything with any kind of “party” aspect to it. And it was GOOD. It felt normal. To see and interact with other, new-to-me people (especially as I only knew the bride and groom, they’re our neighbours but also the bride is a work colleague of Keith’s) was quite a treat.
I think you get the idea…!

I hadn’t planned this outfit at all. It really was a last-minute “what shall I wear” decision: I’d actually planned to wear a dress. I thought I’d open my wardrobe and pick one, but what happened was that I saw the terracotta jumpsuit I’d just ordered from Asos hanging on my wardrobe door. I hadn’t yet decided to keep it, but I think if you’re invited to just the evening reception of a wedding then you can go a bit more “party outfit” than “wedding guest outfit”, and that helped me make the decision to Keep rather than Return.
And the jumpsuit was SUCH a perfect fit on me that I could throw it on with a few accessories in the shape of those orange strappy mules (again!), gold jewellery and the pearl phone holder bag (similar). The pink cami looked so much better than the white vest top I first tried – covering up my back with white t-shirt fabric just didn’t work as it spoiled the plunge v-back.
So I was very happy with this outfit, and we had a fabulous time. The “dance floor” was actually just a gazebo outside on the lawn. We were all a bit confused with what the current regulations and restrictions with all that stuff were, we just did as we were told with when and where to wear masks, dance, socialise, etc…!
It’s honestly not a hardship to do these things, but I will admit I’ll be glad when conversations don’t revolve around masks and social distancing and jabs and anything Covid-related. I have my second jab on Sunday and couldn’t be more glad about it. Normality is on the horizon.
Stay safe, XOXO
