16 Unmissable Reads, The Best of the Blogosphere (April 2020)

In my Best of the Blogosphere this month I have LOADS of cute animal stuff, inspiring TED Talks, surviving-quarantine tips and more!

[Reading time: 3 minutes – not including time spent down any internet rabbit holes…!]

(In case you’ve not seen these posts before my Unmissable Reads are a monthly round-up of things I’ve seen, watched and liked in the blogosphere that I’m sure you’ll love too.)

Just a few short weeks ago I would never have believed that people would be crying out for more and more blog/social content to soak up on a daily basis – and who am I to deny you all these great reads that are doing the rounds on the old interwebs?

I’ve actually struggled to get any content out at all this week as I badly sprained my arm and wrist digging the garden over Easter weekend, and even after 10 days it wasn’t getting any better (it just got more painful). I called the NHS 111 number and was told to COMPLETELY rest it if I stood any chance of it healing. I couldn’t even bring my hand to my face it was so painful – things like typing, teeth brushing or feeding myself with my right hand was out of the question.

I put it in a sling and didn’t move it for three whole days and it’s a little better… I can at least type this, albeit slowly (most of it was typed with my left hand)! I always compile this post over the course of the month so at least there wasn’t that much to do to get it finished.

Anyway, enough of my woes – do have a read of these great links, you never know who or what you might discover that makes your day/week/month!

What links did you like – and have you found any fabulous new blogs to follow? Comment below…!

Hero friends of ours in London have spent lockdown making visors for the NHS for FREE (9,000 to date!) – all funded by themselves. They have a Just Giving page and will donate leftover funds from the £31,000+ they’ve raised so far (after taking money for supplies and delivery costs) to healthcare charities… please donate if you can (the link’s in their profile), or at least show them some support with a follow/comment/sharing their story. They’ve been slogging their guts out for weeks and I want them to know how much we appreciate what they’re doing and how proud we are of them ♥

You want to see some cute sheep having fun on a kids’ roundabout in a deserted playground, don’t you? Here you go.

The most awkward – but most hilarious – online team meeting.

This is as cute as it is funny: a rescue fox runs away with her owner’s phone and tries to bury it – and the whole thing is captured on video. You’ll die from the cuteness 😉

Love a TED Talk or two? Here are the 7 best TED Talks that will change your life.

Mind-blowingly beautiful landscape photography by Russian photographer Kristina Makeeva: incredible pictures taken at a frozen lake in Siberia.

Blair gave us a tour of her Florida home and it’s every bit as gorgeously colourful as her personal style.

You know when you do that thing with someone else’s hands through your behind-your-back arms and you talk/do things with their hands? This woman uses her husband’s hands to do a make-up tutorial (the result is of course hilarious).

If you haven’t yet discovered the world’s smiliest hedgehog and his Bengal cat BFF then you haven’t lived.

Krystal has been musing on finding inspiration in the time of coronavirus and subsequently, her blog post inspired me.

Missing Wagamama? Here’s a video with one of their chefs cooking a katsu chicken curry. Easy peasy and OMG delicious.

MAJOR mascara warning: After noticing that Ken slept with a photo of his late wife every night, one of his carers presented him with an incredible gift.

You are not alone: Debbie has discussed why we must allow ourselves to feel angry or sad, mourn what is gone and then work towards acceptance and being kind to ourselves.

If you missed Toothy Thomas – the Yorkie that stole his owner’s set of comedy teeth – gird your laughing loins and watch it now.

There have been loads of recreations of famous paintings made during lockdown – one of my favourite accounts is To Be a Muse which posts amazingly accurate recreations of female portraits by artists like Gustav Klimt and Frida Kahlo.

A very interesting article on why coronavirus could finally pop the influencer bubble.

And a few Not Dressed As Lamb posts you perhaps missed first time around:

How to Do Your Own Gel Nails at Home (It’s Easier Than You Think),
