After writing three posts at the end of last year featuring three Autumn/Winter 2013 trends (tartan, checked coats and blush pink), I wondered why a particular trend-that’s-not-yet-trending hasn’t taken off with the fashion world. Since seeing Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) wearing a Marissa Webb Kyle Delancey Shirt on ABC/Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I was desperate to recreate her matching shirt/tie combo. I used to wear shirts with men’s ties (not matching) quite a lot a few years ago, and was waiting for someone to pick up on the Marvel character’s wardrobe choices. As no-one that I saw did, I had a thought that maybe I could start my own trend – and if I end up being the only one wearing matching shirts and ties, who cares…?
I actually wore this out to dinner with friends a couple of weeks ago and have only just got round to posting it – too many Christmassy outfits got in the way! I’ve had the shirt for years, but the tie is new: a pale yellow slim tie from Asos that was a perfect match. I’m now going through my husband’s tie collection to see what matches my shirts and blouses… I think he might temporarily “lose” some of them 😉
What do you think – is this something you’ve seen on anyone else recently? Or have you done the Annie Hall look (or something similar) yourself? Let me know in the comments!
