A Whole Lotta Seventies Styling in a Bold Summer Outfit

More cruise ship photos: in this outfit I went for Seventies styling. BIG TIME 70s styling.

To say I love this set of photos is the understatement of the year; the vibe I get from these is part Gloria Steinem, part ‘Almost Famous’, part Sharon Tate, part Woodstock. It was one of the (many) outfits I wore on my Virgin Voyages cruise trip, and possibly my favourite. We had heat. We had sunshine. I had (just about enough) confidence to wear a crop top.

I honestly don’t know what’s the biggest star of the show here; it’s either the Etsy-sourced pink sunglasses (worn Gloria Steinem-style with hair tucked inside the arms, and yes it was deliberate), the puff sleeves of that glorious yellow top (similar) or the Karen Mabon fashion scarf that you’ll have seen before – worn differently both times – here and here (here’s the fashion dogs version of the scarf).

But truthfully, it’s Giles’s photography. For making me look like a bloody rockstar (and I’m not ashamed to admit it).

I think this outfit goes to show just how much impact accessories can have on your outfit: is there anything better than full-on, in-your-face sunglasses? I love ones with tinted lenses (scroll down for a large selection I’ve found for you, I’d have them all if I could justify it) – they add All The Impact to your look but don’t hide your eyes.

Just be careful about protecting your eyes from the sun… not all have the correct protection, so treat them as such. Sun safety first, people. And don’t forget that people can see where you’re looking, I often have to remember I can’t look at people surreptitiously wearing these like I do normally with dark glasses ; -)
