The Importance of Bright Accessories in Cold Weather #IWillWearWhatILike

Winter: it’s dragging, isn’t it?!

February is the month I start REALLY longing for spring and some warmer weather. Instead, it often gets colder – and it’s done exactly that in the UK. Freezing temperatures, Baltic winds and snow (the latter has not yet arrived in the South West, though I think it’s only a matter of time) are all here this week, so wardrobe-wise that means layers to keep out that hideous biting wind.

Layers – and the warmest coat known to mankind. Thankfully I have this crazy-warm, padded parka* with an almightily cosy faux fur hood, that, combined with some woolly accessories, does actually keep me warm…

JUST. (!!)

So when it’s THIS cold (and for me, somewhat depressing), I say this: wear some bold, bright accessories. It’ll do your mood the world of good. If you’re a black coat owner/wearer, that’s fine: just make sure your hat/scarf/gloves combo are not. We’re already coping with a pandemic, the need to stay in and a lack of travel and social events to keep our minds distracted from the sadness and pain that surrounds us. So GO BRIGHT and wear some colour, especially around your face.

Stock up on bright bobble or beanie hats in every colour. Do the same with scarves. And then repeat with gloves. (Try Etsy: support local, often sustainable.) Heck, throw on some chunky earrings like I did for our dog walk.

Stay safe, stay warm. We’ll get through this cold spell. Who knows what March and April will bring? In the UK it can be anything from an Arctic blizzard to a heatwave… we’ve had both in recent years (it’s no surprise that I yearn for the latter)!

What weather are you looking forward to – and do you agree with my wear-bold-accessories-to-brighten-your-mood theory? Tell me in the comments…

Stay safe, XOXO

P.S. Do add your outfits to this week’s link up – and if you’ve added a link to here or my button to your post you may be featured in my bi-monthly Women Who Wear What They Like post!
