The weather’s a bit all over the place at the moment – it’s that time of year where we should expect rampant heat, driving rain or even freezing temperatures. So layers are my best friend right now, helping me cope with cold mornings and very warm afternoons and everything in between. My outfit du jour is the jumpsuit* I first wore last year from Italian brand Anonyme (who are THE BOMB when it comes to prints. I want ALL their patterned pieces).
Last time I went minimal and let the jumpsuit sing, this time I went layering and accessories overboard.

The main reason I wanted to wear this jumpsuit was one of excitement, really; I haven’t been able to fit into it all summer. But it was a momentous occasion last week when I thought I’d try it on again – and it just fit me. I knew I’d been doing well in terms of my diet and fitness (I’ll be writing a blog post about how that’s going in a few weeks hopefully) and I thought it was worth another try. I can’t begin to tell you how pleased I was that I’d get at least ONE wear out of it this summer.
I think my elation at its lack of tightness made me a bit frenzied when it came to styling it… I wanted a t-shirt underneath so picked a Breton top with a blue (and red) stripe to pick out the colour in the jumpsuit’s pattern. Added warmth with my eternal favourite windowpane check jacket (see it styled lots of ways here). Plain white sneakers (tennis shoe style) to give it a casual edge, and to be able to walk comfortably.
Finally, the accessories: My red aviators with deep orange lenses. My monogrammed necklace and Riley locket. A sparkly Swarovski bracelet* for another splash of red. A soft white belt I recently bought from Amazon (my belt collection was lacking wide, white belts). My taupe hobo bag as a neutral that doesn’t fight with the rest of the colour.
And to top it off, my cherished Karen Mabon scarf as a headband – when folded in a particular way – showed the red and blue part of the pattern so worked perfectly with the rest of the colour going on.
There we have it: too much for some, just about enough for me. I tend to be at my happiest when I’m wearing colour on colour, prints and a ton of accessories. This girl NEVER said that less is more ;-P

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!
The link up goes live every Tuesday at around 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only prerequisite is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!
CLICK HERE to read the rules of linking up (and to grab the #iwillwearwhatilike button). Basically it’s just good manners to link back to here – to leave a comment is even nicer!

PLEASE NOTE: This is for linking up WHAT YOU’VE BEEN WEARING ONLY. Non-outfit links will be removed! Also: by linking up you’re saying it’s okay for me to drop you an email to say the link up is open – you can unsubscribe at any time.
