The Jumpsuit and Nude Sandals All Your Weddings and Garden Parties Can’t Do Without This Summer #iwillwearwhatilike

I’ve discovered the perfect wedding/garden party/summer event outfit… I just need to be invited to something!

This wondrous floral jumpsuit has been hanging in my wardrobe waiting for an event for a few weeks now. In the end, I debuted it on the night of the UK Blog Awards (where I was the judge for the fashion category) and like all jumpsuits, all it really needed was a pair of fabulous shoes to go with it.

Who should come to the rescue but long-time Not Dressed As Lamb collaborator Lotus Shoes – not only do they make great (walking) boots which are supremely comfortable, but they also make heels and sandals which are JUST as easy on the feet.

I showed off my AW18 Lotus boots in my walking-the-dog outfit post last year. As a great contrast for SS19, I thought an outfit of a jumpsuit and some embellished blush pink sandals* that all your weddings and garden parties need this summer would be the PERFECT way to introduce you to the brand if you’ve never shopped with them before.

I have many, MANY pairs of Lotus boots, shoes and sandals and what they all have in common is comfort. In fact I had a quick look, and I’ve been singing their praises since 2014. That’s FIVE YEARS of blissful feet!

Once again Lotus have come up trumps with a shoe that’s both stylish AND comfy. I think these could be the ideal sandals for every wedding, day at the races and garden party you might have coming up this summer, especially when paired with a jumpsuit like this one. Or even just a general, everyday sandal: they are THAT comfortable. The leather is buttery smooth (Lotus strappy sandals NEVER rub) and the block heel of this style* means the balls of your feet will be saved from that awful aching high heels often punish you with.

When we shot these photos [top marks and huge thanks to the Instagram Husband Keith by the way for these stunning images!], I walked the 10 minutes to the location.

I stood around posing for 45 minutes. We then walked back.

That was the first time walking in them, and I didn’t get the SLIGHTEST rub or any soreness in my feet. Therefore I cannot stress this enough: LOTUS SHOES CAN BE WORN ALL DAY AND WITHIN ANY BREAKING IN AND YOUR FEET WILL THANK YOU FOR IT.

And if you’d prefer a different colour, these sandals also come in yellow and tan.

And with that, let’s discuss the rest of the outfit!

I’ve waxed lyrical about the jumpsuit a bit already, but what about those go-faster stripes? They give a “nice” item a bit of an edge.

Now I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… jumpsuits are so good for weddings and dressy events, especially if you’re not a dresses type of gal. Mine’s from Asos, and they always have a huge range of floral jumpsuits, so I’d recommend starting there. Mango, & Other Stories and JD Williams have great selections as well.

The neckline on this one was a little low, so I added a vest top underneath in the coral/red colour picked out from the pattern (ALWAYS have lots of these in different colours in your wardrobe for this purpose!) and I added funky glitter sunnies (sadly only available instore in Tesco, though I love these glitter ones) and an old pearl headband.

Headbands are having a moment right now and I love them, but maybe don’t wear a pearl one to a wedding – especially with a dress – or you might be mistaken for a bridesmaid, could you imagine? When looking for alternatives for this one I found a stunning velvet and pearl headband on Etsy, only to see Blair Eadie wearing an identical one in her latest hair tutorial post. The one I found was a LOT cheaper…!

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

The link up goes live every Tuesday at around 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only prerequisite is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

Click here to receive an email reminder for the next #iwillwearwhatilike link up as soon as it’s live!

Linking up etiquette…

CLICK HERE to read the rules of linking up (and to grab the #iwillwearwhatilike button). Basically it’s just good manners to link back to here – to leave a comment is even nicer!

PLEASE NOTE: This is for linking up WHAT YOU’VE BEEN WEARING ONLY. Non-outfit links will be removed and you might be blocked if you turn out to be a repeat “offender” (and no one wants that, do they…)!
