What I Wore for Christmas: A Snakeskin Maxi Dress #iwillwearwhatilike

Hope you had a lovely Christmas! As I always do straight after the big day, I’m featuring what I wore for Christmas – though I’m cheating a little here.

This is actually what I wore for Boxing Day – not what I wore for Christmas Day. I recently bought this fabulous snakeskin maxi dress [US link] with the intention of wearing it on Christmas Day (and beyond), but as you can see from the picture below the dress had beautiful, fluted sleeves. And as I found out when wearing this dress to an event when I was presented with a food buffet, fluted sleeves and food prep/food buffets do NOT mix. Cooking Christmas dinner with fluted sleeves? It suddenly occurred to me on Christmas Eve that wouldn’t be a good idea…!

So instead of a dress with gravy-dipped sleeves on Christmas Day, I bring you a non-gravy-dipped sleeved dress from Boxing Day. (I wore a very simple outfit on Christmas Day of gold pleated maxi skirt and fluffy reindeer sweater). Which, despite being worn to cook the obligatory bubble and squeak*, it managed to survive the day untouched by chocolate, wine or Branston Pickle. Call it a Christmas miracle, if you will!

*Bubble and squeak is very British: It’s a dish made from the leftover veg and potatoes from a roast dinner that’s been shallow fried (it’s the best part of Boxing Day). Great with Branston pickle and cold meats…!

It was a great dress to throw on without thinking about it too much. All it needed was some statement earrings and white boots. I love the fact that it’s a PROPER maxi, going right down to the ankle rather than hovering somewhere round the calf.

I’m keeping this week’s outfit post short and sweet – I hope you continue to have a wonderful Christmas, and don’t forget to come back on Tuesday 1st January for my annual bloopers and outtakes post!

Do add your outfits to this week’s link up – and if you’ve added a link to here or my button to your post you may be featured in my monthly Women Who Wear What They Like post!

WHAT DID YOU WEAR FOR CHRISTMAS DAY (OR BOXING DAY)? TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS…!

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

The link up goes live every Tuesday at around 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

Linking up etiquette…

CLICK HERE to read the rules of linking up (and to grab the #iwillwearwhatilike button). Basically it’s just good manners to link back to here – to leave a comment is even nicer!

PLEASE NOTE: This is for linking up WHAT YOU’VE BEEN WEARING ONLY. Non-outfit links will be removed and you might be blocked if you turn out to be a repeat “offender”!

Want to receive an email reminder for the next link up?

Please note that due to the new GDPR laws I’m unable to send an email reminder unless you subscribe to the mailing list of your own accord. CLICK HERE if you wish to be sent an email with a reminder to link up to the #iwillwearwhatilike link up as soon as it’s live!

Do share the love and visit as many links as you can (you never know what other lovely like-minded ladies you might meet) – the original Instagram campaign forged some wonderful new friendships so don’t miss out.
