(This post is going to be short and sweet today because it’s been an “interesting” start to the week… to say it’s been a hectic day full of odd occurrences, urgent phone calls and other weird miscellaneous unplanned events is a huge understatement! They’ve all helped delay the publishing of this post by several hours, eep! And apologies!)
So… a summer outfit, worn on the bank holiday Monday (so still the weekend of sorts) the day after we went to the Blade Runner Secret Cinema. This is what I packed in my small case for an easy day of travelling back home in the car. Yes, I KNOW my outfits are nearly always for travelling – it gives the impression that I’m a right old jetsetter but I’m really not! It’s usually a very unglamorous trip in the car or journey on the train and I just can’t bear to be uncomfortable.
The day I wore this was very muggy, so I went with my pink cotton circle skirt from Marks & Spencer (which, by the way, comes in seven colours, hurrah) and some red and white to brighten it even more.
SHOP THE LOOK:
I love pink and red together so wore my red espadrilles (SS16 but these are very similar) and added a plain white top. A little accessorisation with the beautiful rose gold and quartz necklace I’m wearing almost daily (thank you to Ernest Jones for gifting it to me) and the oversized sunglasses I’m also wearing on repeat was pretty much all it needed.
One thing to note about the skirt: I was desperate to take it but as it’s 100% cotton I KNEW it would get super creased in my suitcase. So although the skirt isn’t exactly ironed to perfection it isn’t bad considering it was packed away… we stayed at a Premier Inn (not crazy luxurious but they’re always good value for money and beautifully clean!) and they don’t provide irons or ironing boards as standard. You CAN ask at reception for one but I can never be bothered.
Here’s my tip for getting bad creases out of clothes when they’ve been in a suitcase: Take a hairdryer to them. Even better: if you’re a seasoned traveller and can be REALLY prepared, take a small bottle of spritzing water to spray on the bad creases. Get the hairdryer on them, and you’re good to go. It won’t be perfect, but it will look a whole lot better…!
Do add your outfits to this week’s link up – and if you’ve added a link to here or my button to your post you may be featured next week!

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!
The link up goes live every Monday at around 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!
CLICK HERE to read the rules of linking up (and to grab the #iwillwearwhatilike button). Basically it’s just good manners to link back to here – to leave a comment is even nicer!
Please note that due to the new GDPR laws I’m unable to send an email reminder unless you subscribe to the mailing list of your own accord. CLICK HERE if you wish to be sent an email with a reminder to link up to the #iwillwearwhatilike link up as soon as it’s live!

Do share the love and visit as many links as you can (you never know what other lovely like-minded ladies you might meet) – the original Instagram campaign forged some wonderful new friendships so don’t miss out!
