Smart Dressing in Khaki and Pink for Cooler Spring Days #iwillwearwhatilike

Smart dressing made up of warm layers is all very well in spring, but we’re experiencing several seasons every few days here in the UK… it’s messing up my outfit posts!

Not reeeeeally messing up as such, just showing everything out of sync with the current weather. Last week I featured the psychedelic floral print dress I wore for the mini heatwave we had at the end of April, and when I hit publish the temperatures had dropped again. They dropped so much that I had to wear today’s outfit of suedette jacket and checked trousers, and as much as I love it(!) I’m posting it just after we had yet another mini heatwave over the bank holiday weekend. So I’m completely out of sync, but that’s what you get for being ahead of yourself with your outfit posts: the unpredictable British weather playing havoc with your posting schedule!

It’s no big deal seeing as the temperatures are set to drop again (are you keeping up?) – so I’ll be back to wearing outfits that look more like this by the end of the week, don’t you worry.

Now I see this outfits in the pictures I can see just how nicely khaki and pink go together. The trousers are pretty neutral and the scarf is a bit on the lilacy-pink side; it shows off all the shades of blush pink and the soft khaki in the outfit. I featured this jacket in December and I KNEW it would be a winner for spring. I’ve worn it so much already – usually when I’ve needed something smart that’s not a run-of-the-mill biker or denim jacket.

SHOP THE LOOK:

Whenever I wear these fringed loafers from Asos (the Gucci Marmont dupes) I’m always asked where I got them. I’m finding it harder to find something similar every time I look for alternatives, I’m so sorry if you’re loving them as much as I love mine. They’re SO comfy, and I really wish I’d bought them in black when they were available. But there’s something about the pink that calls my name more than black… no surprise there, eh?

A change to Monday’s #iwillwearwhatilike posts for bank holidays

If you link up on Monday’s and leave your email address for reminders, you should have received an email yesterday to say this week’s #iwillwearwhatilike would be a day late. So to explain why today’s post is on a Tuesday instead, yesterday was May Day holiday in the UK and it was SUCH glorious weather that I was really rather upset that I had to spend it indoors on the computer rather than outside with Keith and Riley. Therefore I made an executive decision: From now on, whenever there’s a bank holiday Monday in the UK, the post will go out on a Tuesday instead. The next one will be on 28 May, so the post will go out on Tuesday 29 May.

I’m sure none of you will begrudge me wanting to actually take a day off, will you (I hope not, lol)!

Do add your outfits to this week’s link up – and if you’ve added a link to here or my button to your post you may be featured next week!

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

The link up goes live every Monday at around 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

Linking up etiquette…

CLICK HERE to read the rules of linking up (and to grab the #iwillwearwhatilike button). Basically it’s just good manners to link back to here – to leave a comment is even nicer!
