A Parisian Chic Winter Outfit, Over 40 Style #iwillwearwhatilike

For some reason Parisian chic was what I wanted to go for on Saturday (I think I saw something on Pinterest that made me think “1960s French fashion is my go-to look this weekend”)…!

It just inadvertently turned into a Parisian chic DEAD OF WINTER outfit, because here in Blighty we are back to freezing temperatures and snow. Snow!! In late March!!!!! I am so over cold weather and am yearning for spring, it just can’t come soon enough for this warm temperature-loving girl.

A lovely girl said to me that she loved my outfit and that “it made her very happy”..!

I’m going to make my write-up on this post quick today, because after seeing the house we want to move to last week (see Friday’s post about someone’s else’s advice being the best idea you never had) we now have SO much to do in terms of getting our house sold and buying the new one.

Exciting times ahead!

SHOP THE LOOK:

With that in mind I’ll say this much: I wanted to wear my camel cape to get that sixties Parisian chic, so I braved The Beast From the East MkII and teamed it with my chunky roll neck sweater, rolled hem jeans and my fave two-tone suede Finery boots. In order to get the French girl hair I did a half updo (my hair is growing so quickly!) but a hat might have ruined it, so I wore fluffy earmuffs instead.

They definitely add a soupçon of je-ne-sais-quoi to this look…!

I think the outfit must have worked because I popped into Specsavers at the weekend for an eye test (and to order my new Twiggy glasses) and a lovely girl who worked in there said to me she loved my outfit and that “it made her very happy”… what a sweetie!

You’ll have to excuse my strained facial expressions in these photos – we took them just as it started to snow and the wind was BITING. That sort of weather is not fun to shoot photos in, so we took a few shots then ran back in. Smiling was a bit too much to ask for in that freezing cold wind 😉

Do add your outfits to this week’s link up – and if you’ve added a link to here or my button to your post you may be featured next week!

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

The link up goes live every Monday at 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

Linking up etiquette…

CLICK HERE to read the rules of linking up (and to grab the #iwillwearwhatilike button). Basically it’s just good manners to link back to here – to leave a comment is even nicer!
