Donating Unused Make Up and Toiletries to Help Vulnerable Women

I thought I’d share with you a very worthy cause that I only discovered this week (one that helps women in danger),

which was quite timely considering some of the allegations made against a certain someone whose inauguration took place today.  I am someone who often donates to charity, but when I hear about something that means I can help in a different (and, sometimes, more direct) way then I’m all ears.

Give and Make Up was set up by Caroline Hirons (she of the very successful carolinehirons.com) when she realised she should do something with all the excess make up toiletries that she had received as a (beauty) blogger.

Basically this non-profit organisation aids women and children by giving them the everyday essentials – and a few luxuries – that they leave home without when escaping domestic violence. As Caroline explains, when reading about the anti-domestic violence charity Refuge:

“MY EYES LOCKED ON TO ‘MEDICINES AND TOILETRIES’ AND I THOUGHT OF THE AMOUNT OF PRODUCT I HAD SITTING IN MY CUPBOARD AND FELT ASHAMED… GIVE AND MAKEUP STARTED THAT EVENING.”

In other words, if you have unused make up and toiletries (and also clothing, toys and other everyday essentials), you can donate to this wonderful organisation and you know that it’ll go to someone who really needs a spark of positivity in their life at one of their most vulnerable times.

It’s only in the UK but if you know of a similar organisation please leave a link in the comments and I’ll add them to this post.

Pin for later!

I went through my excess “stuff” today and found a ton of things I’m going to put in the post (just a few things are pictured here). There are only so many things I can give away as gifts or use myself – it just felt wrong to throw them out or, rather, recycle them but I couldn’t think what else to do with them.

I’m now happy that they’ll be going to women that really, really need them…!

UPDATE: The US has the Movers For Moms programme which works in a similar way, locations all over the US. Thanks to Roberta for the suggestion!

So all that’s left to say is… LET’S GET THIS [LINK UP] PARTY STARTED!!

A hot tip for linking up:
