Dressing For Tropical Heat at The Eden Project

Dressing for the British weather can be challenging at the best of times, but throw in some indoor tropical heat as part of your day out alongside cool summer temperatures and you’ve got yourself a nightmare for trying to decide what to wear.

The Eden Project is the UK’s most-visited tourist attraction, with the world’s largest indoor rainforest inside one of the biomes (which can be seen in the background of one of my photos). It’s an incredible place – probably why I’ve been three times now…!

The Eden Project also hold mini music festivals – the Eden Sessions – so after a day spent in the beautiful outdoor gardens and the sweltering rainforest biome and slightly cooler Mediterranean biome at the end of June, we were lucky enough to see Icelandic band Sigur Rós who were just incredible. The fact that it didn’t rain at an outdoors event was a blessing – but loose clothes for the biomes and layers for the chilly evening were essential.

If you’re ever thinking of going to the Eden Project, one word of advice: do NOT wear skinny jeans. They would be the worst thing I could possibly imagine to wear – you need loose clothes! The Brits are not used to the sort of heat that makes jeans inadvisable, and I pitied the girls walking around the tropical rainforest in their skinnies looking like they were ready to melt. Thankfully I kept my trousers loose and my top sleeveless and just about managed to keep cool.

Unlike the weather on that day, the UK has gone craaaazy with the heat this week; I just want shorts and a bikini all the way at the moment. How do you lovely readers stay cool in the hot weather – do you have a go-to outfit that will always see you through a hot day? Let me know in the comments!
