Slow Fashion: Mixing Your Existing Summer and Winter Prints #iwillwearwhatilike

With the importance of slow fashion at the moment, I’m looking to make the most out of my wardrobe every single day.

[Reading time: 2 mins]

To be honest, rewearing my clothes is something I’ve ALWAYS done in real life and on the blog (the latter of which is showing my IRL outfits anyway). Lately, however, I’ve tried to make more of a feature of the pieces I’m rewearing here on the blog. And from what you guys tell me, the 5 (or 4) Ways to Wear feature I feature at the end of my outfit posts are proving to be very popular.

This weekend I wanted to wear something a little 70s-inspired. I keep seeing outfits where there’s a belted roll neck (longline) sweater with a midi skirt/culottes and blazer, so that was my inspiration.

I based this outfit on that late 70s look, starting with the basics of the camel roll neck* and Prince of Wales check blazer (similar save, similar splurge). Sometimes I’m asked how I put together an outfit: the answer is usually “haphazardly”. As long as I have a starting point with a single piece or a look I want to recreate then the rest just follows. It’s usually a case of trial and error as I pull things out of my wardrobe and see what works.

Take this outfit, where I rewore my palm print, cropped trousers yet again:

Not only are the trousers proving to be very versatile despite it being a summer print (see the 4 Ways to Wear below), but the Prince of Wales check blazer (traditionally more of a winter print) goes with just about EVERYTHING. Putting the two together just seemed a natural choice.

The rest of the outfit was put together based on the colours in the trousers’ palm print. I ended up with a multitude of colours with a pink headband, blue tights, a brown snakeskin belt and terracotta heels. Like I spoke about in last week’s maximalist outfit, I just can’t help myself when deciding what accessories to add… I just Wear All The Things!

Mixed any summer and winter items lately? Found any unexpected pairings of pieces from different seasons that really work? Comment below…

XOXO
