How to Style a Denim Boilersuit (or Jumpsuit) For Summer #iwillwearwhatilike

I’m starting to build up quite the collection of jumpsuits in my wardrobe – is there anything easier to wear? (Discounting bathroom issues, of course, but then I guess there has to be at least ONE drawback of wearing something that’s so easy to style.)

This denim jumpsuit (similar), however, was described on Asos’s site as a boilersuit… it made me wonder: What’s the difference between a boilersuit and a jumpsuit?* It seems that a boilersuit simply isn’t as fitted. So a light denim is actually the perfect fabric for a boilersuit – and when I saw this one in the Asos sale I knew it had to be mine.

It’s yet another easy-to-wear, wear-anywhere item for my jumpsuit collection. This year I’ve worn my dark floral jumpsuit, the red floral jumpsuit at the JD Williams photo shoot and the khaki Winser jumpsuit on the blog. Never mind the times I’ve worn them on an everyday basis – when you work from home all you have to do is throw it on, add a belt (maybe) and shoes. Add a layer of a t-shirt or roll neck underneath (depending on the time of year) if you need a little extra warmth… AND THAT’S IT.

And as long as you cross your legs and never need the bathroom during the day, you’re absolutely fine 😜

I KNOW THE BOILERSUIT IS MEANT TO BE BAGGY, BUT I LIKE TO ADD A LITTLE DEFINITION TO MY WAIST WHERE I CAN.

This weekend I wore my boilersuit with my super comfy Finery snakeskin flats (so comfy I can walk the dog in them) and added a leopard print belt. I know the boilersuit is meant to be baggy, but I like to add a little definition to my waist where I can.

Other than that I grabbed my newest crossbody bag (the studs! the studs! I love it!) and that was pretty much it. A lot of you have been really complimentary about my hair lately which is very kind… I’m actually growing out the bob and the fringe – who knows how long I’ll go this time?!

Thank you for also being patient about the tardiness of my posts recently. I mentioned the other week that we were having WiFi problems – it seems the problem isn’t going away. Everything is taking me twice as long so we are DEFINITELY going with a different broadband provider. The amount of time I sit looking at a white screen while it tries to connect is driving me insane, and I can’t watch Instagram stories at home with this Wifi either it’s so bad. We’re thinking of switching to SKY, if anyone has any experience (good or bad) of their broadband please let me know!

*(Little bit of trivia for you: Boilersuits were originally made for men maintaining coal-fired boilers. Jumpsuits were made originally for parachuteers. I guess it’s kind of obvious when you think about it, and I love how items of clothing that were invented for purely practical reasons were taken over as fashion garments. Does that mean we’ll be wearing tabards or high-vis jackets in the future as everyday wear…?!)

So do add your outfits to this week’s link up – and if you’ve added a link to here or my button to your post you may be featured next week!

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

The link up goes live every Monday at 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!
