I did that with this alpaca duster coat from Jaeger when I featured it on my Facebook page… It was love at first online sight.
The lovely people at Jaeger were kind enough to gift me the coat (cue excited squeals), and once I’d stopped stroking its lovely alpaca furriness after taking it out the box, it suddenly occurred to me: How do you style a short-sleeved coat? Like sleeveless sweaters, it’s one of those contradictory items of clothing that’s designed to keep you warm, but has half of it missing…!
Luckily the UK is enjoying one of the mildest Christmases ever, so thankfully it was more than warm enough to wear it last weekend. (I heard Christmas Day might get up to 18°C/65°F which is about what we sometimes get in the summer – absolutely crazy!) But the mild temperatures last weekend meant that all this gorgeous coat required was a long-sleeved sweater underneath.
In much colder weather I’d wear a thick roll neck sweater and long gloves with it instead – cashmere ones would be nice – so as long as you’re suitably dressed with enough warm layers the short sleeves aren’t a problem (unless you’re in minus figures with a biting cold wind, and to be honest I probably wouldn’t venture outside if it was that cold)!
As I’m suffering with sciatica at the moment from a slipped disc (you can read how that happened here), I’m restricted to loose everything and flat shoes right now so these orange lace-up ballet flats look cute and keep me from killing myself in heels (in a vain attempt to look cuter). In fact what you don’t see in these pictures is the walking stick I’m currently using, though keep an eye out for my annual bloopers and outtakes post on New Year’s Day, you might just see it…!
Do you wear short-sleeved coats or sleeveless sweaters, and if so how do you style them? Tell me in the comments!
