Some of My Favourite Fun and Fabulous Links – #iwillwearwhatilike Special

Today is the fourth Sunday in the month, so that means it’s time for my Favourite Fun and Fabulous Links. This one’s a special feature, however…!

As August is the month of the #iwillwearwhatilike campaign, I thought I’d link to some of the great posts that have been written around the campaign by my fellow bloggers. I’m beyond flattered that so many women have taken the subject to heart and feel as passionately about it as I do. Turning 30 (or 40, or 50…) is NOT a reason to stop dressing up or to start being “age appropriate”. If ever there was a phrase that I’d ban if I could, it would be that one!

So here’s some great heart-felt weekend reading for you from lots of pretty darned fabulous, funky 30+ ladies. Enjoy, and Happy Sunday 🙂

“These ideas we all have about what we should and shouldn’t wear don’t just pop into our heads on the morning of our 30th birthday like a given right which makes us suddenly aware of the rules of style we must now follow. Actually age has nothing to do with it at all”
Bumpkin Betty | Wearing Pink (and Why It Doesn’t Matter What Anyone Thinks)

“Let’s just stick to the ‘rule’ that if you feel fabulous in something that you wear, you can still wear it, no matter how old you are. No matter what you wear, if you wear it with confidence then people will love it on you”
– 40+ Style | #40plusstyle Inspiration: Wear What You Like After 40!

“Why shouldn’t we at all times embrace the very beauty of our womanhood? If there is a sartorial item in our closets that helps us to feel beautiful we should be wearing it. I am probably starting to sound like a broken record, but confidence is the first thing we as women should put on”
Kremb de la Kremb | 24 Things I Shouldn’t Have Worn – Oops! Basically, #iwillwearwhatilike

“Does anyone see a connection here? Why is it we allow others to tell us how we should dress, or what we shouldn’t wear, etc. and then wonder why we don’t feel good about ourselves?”
– I’m a Norbyah | #iwillwearwhatilike

“The thing that really gets me is the article groups all 30+ women together like we are all 30+ drones wanting to look, act and feel the same by implying that once you hit 30 there’s clothing rules that should be followed by all”
– My Journal Scribble | Am Over 30 and I Will Wear What I Like!

“Too many people think they can go around telling other people what to wear. But – news flash – it’s not actually okay. It’s a really terrible thing to do. You get to decide what clothes you put on your body, and that’s it”
– Can’t Talk | I Will Wear What I Like

“Style is about personality and expressing your true self – it’s knowing who you are, what you like, being comfortable in your own skin and revealing it to the world. Style is not limited by age”
– Heather Downes Jewelry | Age Appropriate Style, Says Who?

“Of course I want to feel comfortable in what I wear, it has to flatter my body and match my personal style – although sometimes it’s nice to step outside your comfort zone”
– Lady of Style | Ear Hoops #iwillwearwhatilike Instagram Initiative

“Telling someone how they should dress for the age category that they happen to be in, sets up a whole set of rules that don’t bother to take into consideration factors that make each person an individual. The thing is, age is subjective. You can be an old soul at 20 and a young spirit at 60”
– Lee-Ann Hawe | Wear What You Like and Love It!

Which of these articles resonated with you? Do let me know your thoughts in the comments 🙂
