Featured: Not Dressed As Lamb in Good Housekeeping Magazine

As I mentioned on my Instagram a couple of days ago, magazine features are like the No.19 bus: You wait ages for one, then two come along at once…!

This photo is in April’s issue of Good Housekeeping that’s just come out and I’ve really been looking forward to seeing it. The feature is the bloggers’ Best Dress Edit (see below for Alyson, Jane and Amanda’s pictures) and I couldn’t be happier with the final image! Thank you photographer Neil Cooper, hairstylist Petros Mairoudhiou and make up artist Caroline Piasecki for making me look so glamorous. You’ll see a bit of a theme with my summer dress shape of choice – another sleeveless midi, this one being what I thought would be the perfect short wedding dress by LK Bennett… it fit me like a dream and was so beautiful. I tried to stuff it in my handbag at the end of the day, but it just wouldn’t fit 😉

I’ve added some of my photos from the day below together with pictures of the dress that didn’t make the cut, plus the dresses featured that I could find online also have links included.

That’s probably my glamour quota for the year all used up following last Sunday’s post – I love the irony of the timing, considering I wrote that being a full time fashion blogger isn’t as glamorous as people might expect just last week. What do you think – a onesie or pyjamas outfit post next…?!

The other three ladies looked so fabulous as well – the dress over trousers style is proving to be very popular. I also had my eye on the floral Boden dress Jane was wearing (though I can’t find that one online yet).

I must also mention that Alyson, who’s been a fashion journalist for many years, has just published a new book: Style Forever, The Grown-Up Guide to Looking Fabulous. I was sent a copy and although I haven’t read it all yet, what I have read is superb. It neither dictates to older women to go all Parisian chic with trench coats, navy sweaters and ballet flats, nor does it push bold looks à la Iris Apfel down your throat. She’s given lots of style tips but they’re up to date, wearable and decidedly not dull. Neither is her writing, and nor are the illustrations (which, by the way, are simply fabulous). Miss it at your peril…!
