My Striking Magenta Fashion Awards Outfit

Ta-dah! This is it – the first outfit I’ve worn to any kind of fashion awards: I attended the Bath in Fashion Blogger Awards catwalk show (yes, I was FROW) as a finalist last week… I’m sure most of you know I didn’t win, but I rocked the hell out of this Freak Factory magenta patterned top and skirt which made me a happy girl on the day.

I recently wrote about Freak Factory in my post A Beautiful Orange Dress – and this was the second outfit I chose from their spring/summer collection to style. They were good enough to loan it to me long enough to wear to the awards… I think this has to be one of my top five – maybe even top three – favourite outfits ever.

The Freak Factory SS13 collection is “dedicated to sailors, love and pop culture” (doesn’t that sound so cool?) – I LOVE the silicon coated pattern on this jersey fabric, and the colours are absolutely beautiful. If you look closely at the pattern, you can see an octopus (across the t-shirt), a ship’s wheel, fish scales, waves, and of course sailors’ stripes. It’s definitely not the sort of thing you’d get at Primark, that’s for sure; it definitely looked (and felt) totally unique with that incredible pattern across it.

In my usual style I added extra drama with my black crochet pattern tights, black blazer and the best Asos statement necklace ever made (sadly no longer available). On the day I also had to battle with the wind so my hair went everywhere, plus the cobbled streets of Bath don’t give girls in heels an easy time. But it was a fantastic day; the catwalk show was amazing and I met some lovely people including one very famous blogger (see last photo), so it wasn’t too disappointing not to have won.

I was joined on the day by my sister Vickie and Mr. Summers, who came to support me (thanks guys) – these pictures are very typical of my sister and I when a camera is pointed our way. The sun came out so we basked in its glory in a doorway – but only briefly before we started giggling at pretty much nothing.

L-R: Me, Becky of The Flower Girl, Susie Lau of Style Bubble, Steph of Stephanie Dreams, Megan of The Briar Rose Blog

And here are some of the lovely finalists, with none other than Susie Bubble whom we met just before the show! Interesting fact: I noticed at least five of the ten finalists were redheads… we’re going to take over the world.

We really are 😉

That’s all for now, see you back in a couple of days. Thank you so much for all your support with, well, everything!!
