Although it feels like the heatwave of a few weeks ago has properly passed, we’re still getting the odd hot day here and there in the UK. So my small collection of shorts – each pair not usually worn more than once or twice a year (if at all) – has actually seen the light of day quite a lot this summer. I love these high waisted 1970s style beauties with their dark rinse and exceptionally deep waistband – and all those buttons… love ’em!
I still find it hard not to insist on wearing heels with shorts, however, unless completely impractical… nude heels are one of the most wondrous inventions of the last decade for elongating legs, especially in the summer when they’re more on show. The floral shirt is getting a bit thin, but it’s an old fave and a perfect throw-on at the end of a hot day. I roll it out every year and haven’t yet tired of the psychedelic pattern – it lends itself quite nicely to 70s-style shorts.
So I haven’t yet tired of the summer at all (show me a Brit who has) – but I get the feeling that those of you that experience really hot summers every year are looking forward to cooler weather… is this you? Are you ready for autumn to happen – let me know!
