[We seemed to have entered monsoon season in South West England this week… no way am I venturing outside to take outfit photos in this wind and rain! So I’ll be posting a few previously-unseen outfits in the meantime.]
It wasn’t that long ago that we wouldn’t have dreamt of wearing high waisted jeans (not that any denim brands made the waistlines any higher than about three inches below your navel). Who would have thought we’d all have something to thank Simon Cowell for where fashion’s concerned? So I would like to thank him for bringing back high waisted trousers so our t-shirts stay tucked in, our tummies stay warm and we don’t have to worry about builder’s bum. Heaven.
This outfit was a bit of an experiment and the jury’s out as to whether it’s worked; the waterfall style cardigan is one of my favourite pieces that I’ve worn to death over the last few years. I had the brainwave of wrapping it round and tieing it at the back to make a crossover top – thank god for the high waist of my jeans otherwise I would have been entering serious dressed-as-lamb territory. I’m lucky enough to have kept quite a small waist over the years so I think I can just about get away with exposing this much torso at my age. The lack of cleavage and bare leg helps the decency level… I think. I hope.
