This Valentine’s Day why not spread the love a little wider and consider one or two “Galentine’s Day” gifts for one or two of your besties?
There’s no need to restrict the day to only celebrating the love you have for your other half… what about the love you have for the special friend in your life? Especially if she/he is recently single, or has had a hard year, or has done something amazing for you recently – imagine how lovely it would be to send her/him something that shows how much you love them as well!
Personally I’m not a Valentine’s gift-giver, I’ll be honest and say that I tend to be an anti-Valentine’s Day person (so is Keith). Luckily we both feel the same way about it so no cards, chocolates or flowers on February 14th is absolutely fine with me (it must run in the family, my mother doesn’t believe in Mother’s Day). But I do love the idea of giving something to a gal pal, BFF, relative or anyone else you love on Valentine’s Day just simply to buck the trend and show them you care and are thinking about them.
So whether you’re anti-Valentine’s Day or not, think about someone who might like to receive something that’ll brighten their day. After all, February can often be a dark, gloomy and usually cold month depending on where you live – if they’re feeling down already then “the day of love” may well make them feel worse… until a lovely friend (you!) sends them a perfect “thinking of you/love you” present!
How nice would it be to have a friend that makes February 14th your new Palentine’s/Galentine’s Day? Go on, scroll down think about how much you love them…!

On it’s Valentine’s Day it can be a bit depressing when you WANT to receive a card but don’t. A tongue-in-cheek gal pal card is such a simple thing to send and will certainly put a smile on her face – or why not send a friendship book or a personalised jar of friendship date ideas?

My Valentine Grinch post was the first post I published on my blog exactly a year ago so I think it set the scene for how I feel about Valentine’s Day!! My OH and I do do cards … we try to out do each other with the most un-lovey dovey ones!! There are always some beaut gifts to choose from on NOTHS,though .. they are always my go to for something personalised xo
Love these although I have to admire I adore Valentine’s Day and have since I had my first boyfriend. We tend to just do cards here though over presents as it’s so close to Christmas. Adore those earrings and love the first card particularly although all gorge pics. The one thing I do dislike about Valentine’s is it can depress single people, so the pal cards are a cute gesture for friends to send xx
My birthday is also this month and I’m going to buy myself jewelry from the Sundance catalog. I’m just having trouble deciding what to buy… I’ll send flowers to my mom and sister. Thanks for the heads up!
I like this! Valentines day for the people whom you love. Makes sense.

Haha I should add up the price of all of them and see what it comes to!!!! 😉 thanks Rosie, glad you liked them x
I like to give my friends a little random thank you gift now & then, as you say, it’s nice to be appreciated. Mark & I have never done V Day. Not because we’re anti, just because we don’t really notice it. I’m like you about it, ambivalent. My theory is, if I see something & think so & so would love that, I just get it & give it! A perfect example is the sweet key ring you’ve suggested. I know someone who’d love that & it’s a special way for me to say thanks for your support.
As for flowers, well I love flowers in the house all year round so getting them at triple the price for one day is a bit ridiculous 😉

I think more people DON’T do V Day than we realise, MT! I’m the same with gifts, I buy them all year round for people (fab, isn’t it). And the extortionate price of flowers for Mother’s day is the reason why my mum doesn’t believe in it – she resented her children being “made” to buy flowers when they’re so damn expensive!!
thanks hon x
