My Favourite Past Winter Outfits (With AW17 Shopping Links)

Autumn outfits, winter outfits, cold weather style, AW17 picks | Not Dressed As Lamb

It’s properly winter here in the UK now – we have beautiful sunshine but it’s truly FREEZING today. I went for an early morning walk at sunrise and I had to be careful not to slip on the icy pavements and roads.

So here we go then: Winter. I consider it autumn until the last day of November, then I’ll embrace the coldest, darkest season when December rolls around (and only then). I haven’t actually got ALL my winter clothes out of storage yet, so I need to hurry up and get everything out… I keep remembering I have lots of other colour scarves and gloves I could be wearing – at the moment I’m pretty much wearing just one of each (that I left out from last winter) every day!

Today’s post is my regular quarterly post for each season where I pick the best of the outfits from previous years and find you some current shopping picks so you can recreate the outfit entirely, or just shop for one similar item and then style it your own way.

Hopefully you’ll find something that you like and can work into your wardrobe – they all work around the coat which I think is what can make or break a winter outfit. To be honest I think you can wear something very straightforward underneath a fabulous coat and you’ll feel great (and stand out). You only have to look at the sea of black in a shopping centre or train station to see that everyone douses themselves in black in the winter… Let’s change that with some colour, ladies!

I featured my first new coat of the season – a floral tapestry coat – in Monday’s post, and I can’t wait to start wearing all my brightly coloured coats in my collection again.

I know, I know… I SAY I hate winter but the first flush of cold that requires layers and a coat does get me excited about cold weather dressing.

Just ask me again at the beginning of February and it’ll be a very different story…!!

I picked up a man’s cashmere long-line coat for almost nothing last fall, similar to the orange one in your picture. It’s on the small side but still a tiny bit big for me. I tried to give it away but had no takers. I love it – even the lining of the pockets is soft – so I’m wearing it this year. I’ll pair it with girlie accessories. Thanks for the inspiration and tips!!

I love your gloves! And the fur shawl is something I need! I like to wear that just over a sweater!

Hi, for me the orange animal pattern coat beats the rest by a long way. And you look up to having fun in it. (But you seem to be happier in the long navy coat, judging from the photo)

That fake fur animal coat with the furry collar has my name on it. Fab! 🙂 And I like the green tartan one and your orange leopard coat too.

I'm patterning down for winter here in Scotland. I may live to regret saying that I'm not a hot weather fan!
