I’m still loving summer and all the floaty, sheer and pretty clothes that come with it. This weekend I wore one of my favourite “summer only” tops that really only comes out when it’s lovely weather… it provides no warmth and you can’t wear anything over the top of it like a sweater or coat – strictly for summer days, this one.
Today’s link up is finally here, which is a MIRACLE considering our WiFi has been seeeeeriously slow for several days now. Every page I open takes an eon to load – it’s reminding me of the days of dial up with all those pinging and beeping noises (remember them?!) you used to get while it was loading.
So apologies for my tardiness, but I had to take several breaks throughout the day to avoid throwing the monitor out the window (of course taking breaks slowed me up even more)…!
❝
REMEMBER WHEN MINT WAS THE COLOUR TO WEAR?
❞
Anyway, the outfit!
The top is really kind of fabulous as the rose design is printed in the same place on both layers so you get this lovely 3-D effect. I’ve looked for alternative sheer white tops for you (with and without embroidery/designs) and featured them at the end of my outfit images. There are actually a lot of super pretty tops out there right now so do check them out.
I still love my mint trousers/chinos from Marks & Spencer that are also a few years old – remember when mint was THE colour to wear? I’ve tried to find similar trousers online as an alternative but I tell you, no one makes mint anything anymore… It’s a shame as it’s such a nice colour for spring and summer. Sea green and pale green was the nearest I could find.
SHOP THE LOOK:
What I have realised from this outfit is the new colour combo I absolutely love: White, mint and tangerine orange – so yummy and fruity and summery! The new aviator sunglasses are going with everything at the moment and add colour to my face… who needs bronzer when you’ve got these?!

And a note about Riley… It’s just too difficult to take pictures without him wandering into shot half the time. So rather than trying to keep him out we’re just going with the Riley flow – I think he was born for this to be honest. That’s what happens when you get a dog who is the epitome of relaxed…!
So do add your outfits to this week’s link up – and if you’ve added a link to here or my button to your post you may be featured next week!

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!
The link up goes live every Monday at 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!
Linking up etiquette…
CLICK HERE to read the rules of linking up (and to grab the #iwillwearwhatilike button). Basically it’s just good manners to link back to here – to leave a comment is even nicer!

Ooh I love the mint and orange – it doesn't sound like a good mix, but it really is!
Thanks for the spotlight! Finally able to come up for air after installing my art exhibition.
I DO remember the mint craze. Now that it's over, your take is refreshing, just like mint itself!
Love the mix of colors. Lovely outfit Catherine and as always beautiful pictures!
Fabulous summer look, Catherine. Love that top! – Amy

Really pretty top, I love the 3D effect. I'm surprised there isn't more mintiness in the shops right now because it's a nice fresh colour for Spring/Summer. I almost bought a pair of mint Stan Smiths in the summer sale last year but talked myself out it because I didn't think I'd wear them that much – I got red instead and haven't worn those either!

Sorry about your Internet issues; that's no fun… And isn't it amazing how quickly we got used to fast Internet? I can absolutely remember how slow dial-up was… But it does seem a looooong time ago…
That's a great summer top! It looks perfect with the pants.
My fur babies are always photo bombing my pictures! I love this outfit. It struck me that I am loving fashion right now because of the gentle ladylike style. I love the soft colors, relaxed fit and delicate touches being worn by so many. It reminds me of sweet days in my younger years spent with my dear grandmothers. Peace!

Love it!!! That top is calling my name;}
Oh wow! I love this outfit! It does look so cool and comfy and that top is so pretty and interesting. Yes, I remember when mint was all the rage. I use to even own a pair of mint jeans, but I got rid of them.
Such a beautiful and refreshing look and color palette for summer. I am actually still seeing a lot of mint…especially when I am choosing merchandise for my boutique. I currently carry quite a few mint pieces in kimonos and scarves. It is such a soft, pretty color!

Irene my lovely thank you! x
I was wondering where Riley was in your beach post so I am all in favor of his photobombing! Lovely outfit.
Aha – he was on the beach but my niece was with us so she took him for a stroll while we quickly did the shoot…! thank you x
Anne in the featured! 🙂
Who could blame Riley for wanting to hang out with his mom when she looks so divinely fresh and summery?! ;D I love the sheer overlay of this rose-printed top, dearest Catherine…and I totally agree that it's the perfect "go-with" for your cropped mint trousers. And while I don't have any mint pieces in my closet right now, I remember owning a matching mint-coloured tank top and tube skirt when I was a teenager that I absolutely adored!! XOXO

thanks so much, Miriam! x
I don't have anything in mint… OR tangerine, but I love the contrast. Maybe because of the heat, but I'm thinking in ice cream right now, and I love the idea of a cone with mint chocolate chip and an orange or tangerine sorbet!!!!! Big kiss to your best accessory, Riley! xxx
Haha what's with us all thinking food where this is concerned… you're right about the ice cream!! Riley sends a sniffing-your-face-closely right back (you know the one)!! xx
Very chic outfit, lovely colour mix going on – nice. x Jacqui

Mint was evvvvvverywhere a few years back… I don't honestly see how you could have escaped its clutches, Suzy!! 😉
Oh I remember the beeping! You look very summery and…fresh!
haha the beeping of dial up was like it was possessed, wasn't it Nancy…?!! thanks sweetie x
Oh so honoured to being featured Catherine!!! I love mint – my very first sofa was mint…80's – hahaha. In any case you look lovely in mint.

My pleasure, Yvonne! and thank you x
Coincidently I saw a girl in mint trews and trainers today, and thought how lovely it looked. It's great with tangerine. Very fresh and summery.
Oh wow I LOVE the idea of mint trainers, Gail!
Hmmm..I don't think I have any mint color clothing! I think the mintest (is that a word?) color that I have worn would have to be the emerald green color.
Thanks for sharing your lovely photos and your dog!
xo,
Janise
thanks Janise my lovely!
Thank you for your patience and still putting the link up live Catherine. My internet has played up all weekend too (wanted to throw mine!). I think a storm is definitely brewing in London.Lovely photos with Riley xx

Grrrrr slow wifi is so frustrating isn't Laurie?!!! x #firstworldproblems
My mom (the 70+ model on my blog) has a pair of mint jeans—and I agree—they are fabulous!!
And Riley is a wonderful accessory to any outfit! Here in the States, people even cloth their animals—you could start a blog on it..LOL!!

Hehe I'm not sure Riley would appreciate wearing anything… he has a coat for the rain and hates wearing it!! 😉
I love the 3D effect of your top! And the mint and tangerine is a great combo – makes me thirsty for a fruity drink. Finally, I'm loving your featured favourites from last week. Thanks for the linkup.
Hehe I thought it seemed very fruity-themed, Melanie…! thanks hon x
