8 Stylish Over 40 Fashion Bloggers Wearing Their Favourite Colours

The Fab 40s wear their favourite colours: I’m so pleased to be part of this group of fabulous over 40 fashion bloggers as a special guest this month – what an honour…! Each month these bloggers from around the globe pick a theme and create an outfit around it.

So as the theme was “My favourite colour” I had to obviously work out what that was. This was actually my first hurdle – as a lover of colour (ALL colour, not counting black) I honestly didn’t know what my favourite colour even was. When people ask me that I always think, Do they mean to wear? Or in my home? Or just for colouring in?!

I know I’ve been wearing a lot of orangey-red lately, but I never used to even like orange at all.

Warm colours

So I asked friends, What would you say is my favourite colour?

That turned out to be a mistake. Hilariously, nearly everyone said something different: Peach. Pink. Red. Orange. Orangey-red. Burgundy. Yellow. No help at all, people, NO HELP AT ALL. (At least they were all warm colours. That was something.)

In other words, I just love colour… It seems ‘colour’ is my favourite colour.

I decided to go with what was in my summer wardrobe that I’d recently taken out of storage that jumped out at me. (Now don’t get me wrong, when I say “taken out of storage” I mean literally just that: The boxes are out of storage. The clothes are still in the boxes. I’m wearing stuff straight out of the boxes, not from my wardrobe after they’ve been put away. I blame the British weather: In May in the UK you’re usually still debating whether to put away your fur-lined parka or whether you might still need it one more time. So when the weather surprises you with hot weather – 27C – it’s a bit of a shock and one that my summer wardrobe wasn’t quite prepared for.)

And the item I was most excited about rediscovering? My pair of cropped floral trousers. So did this influence my choice of favourite colour I hear you ask…?

Now I know it’s somewhat obvious from the photos (😉) but yes, I went with blush pink. My outfit is made up of all things blush and soft pink, from the trousers (first worn for my Madonna at Live Aid tribute post last year), to the suede shoes, to the beautiful pink satchel, to my hoop earrings.

Blush pink is definitely having a moment right now – especially after being one of Pantone’s Colours of the Year 2016 (Rose Quartz and Serenity Blue) – and it’s just so pretty. I guess the fact that I have so many blush pink clothes and accessories proves that it is [one of] my favourite colours.

Who knows what my fave will be next week…?!

I don't have an all time fav color—but, my bedroom tends to always be blue!!!

Catherine, it was an honor to have you as our guest blogger this month! I am trying to incorporate more blush into my wardrobe since it is so on trend, and your look certainly gave me some inspiration. I am simply mad for your shoes.

I can totally understand your dilemma, Catherine. I'd struggle to come up with one favourite colour. Although if you asked my best pal she'd probably say khaki because I do wear it a lot! I love your look – I remember those floral trousers from your Madonna post last year and loved them then too.
The other girls all look absolutely fabulous, I'm particularly keen on Kelly's green look. Hm…perhaps greens ARE my favourite colours after all!

It would be very hard for me to pick my favorite color. But blush is certainly up there, and I made sure to buy several blush items when they were more readily available last year… 🙂

Your outfit is great! Blush works so well with your coloring!

This is such a great collaboration; how great that you are part of it this month!
