13 Unmissable Reads - The Best of the Blogosphere (May 2017)

In my Best of the Blogosphere this month I have thoughts on turning 50, women running their own businesses, trolls getting shut down in style, the downfalls of sharing our lives online – and more.

(In case you’ve not seen these posts before my Unmissable Reads are a monthly round-up of things I’ve seen, watched and liked in the blogosphere that I’m sure you’ll love too.)

I’ve picked a mixture of fashion, musings and hilarities this month… I’d picked them before the tragic events in Manchester on Monday but I thought it was important to still include them – we must remember to laugh and enjoy life still as well as feeling sorrow at the appropriate times.

Stay safe and hold onto your loved ones, lovely readers 💗

Do have a read of these great links – you never know who or what you might discover…!

Melanie talks about the pursuit of the perfect photo (and how generally it really doesn’t exist).

Great post from Chloe about why you’re not failing at life if you don’t go on a fancy AF holiday. She’s mostly talking to 20-somethings but it applies to all of us (we’ve had to cancel the 2017 holiday we’d been planning for YEARS due to lack of funds).

Leah discusses the realities of running your own business – I know EXACTLY how she feels.

This 80s style sequin dress is absolutely to die for.

A young Instagrammer posted a picture of herself with a waxwork of Cheryl (Cole) but mistakenly tagged in Kate Beckinsale… Kate’s lovely comments prove just how kind and hilarious she is (she even reposted it).

It may have been a couple of years ago but Grechen totally shuts down a troll with this response about her legs (and discusses all the other things she’s “supposed” to wear, but quite rightly chooses to ignore).

The problems with blogging, privacy and sharing our lives online by Natalie, a self-confessed private person.

When you watch this Elle Fanning fan fantasy video you’ll probably also ask, BUT WHY?! – but it’s as cute as it is funny. The first time Vogue has made me properly lol, in fact.

The best of the Over40Collective this month

This is a section where I share the best post from each member of the O40Co. Enjoy! 🙂

Liz talks about her hopes, dreams and achievements as her blog turns four. If you know anyone going through a tough time in life they NEED to read this – Liz is a force of nature who’s come out the other side of some sh*tty times shining as bright as the sun.

Wearing the same gorgeous khaki jumpsuit I wore a couple of weeks ago, Lisa has styled hers in a totally different and (of course!) sparkly way.

Nikki has reflected on what’s it’s like to turn 50. And it’s all good.

Cashmere is so lush – Michelle has discussed why cashmere is such a great investment for your closet and looks pretty perfect in blue while she’s at it.

The other Michelle has wondered if she’s a bit of a blogger cliché – then realises it’s not necessarily a bad thing.

The most stunning athleisure wear outfit I think I’ve EVER seen – Annette wears a floaty striped top with jogging pants and looks incredible.

Fanning's fanning video cracked me up. Gretchen's post is OH SO TRUE!, which I know having my own company as well. I enjoyed all of these links.

Thanks so much for the shout-out, Catherine. I really appreciate it.

The first link I clicked on was (of course) the 80's style sequin dress one. It made me smile because the dress comes from Lillie Rubin, a fabulous store where I worked evenings and weekends while I attended University. It was ALLLLLL sequins and bugle beads and Bob Mackie gowns, and I remember that exact dress she is wearing. What a lovely walk down memory lane, and proof that my sequin obsession has some very deep roots! 😀 xx

A brilliant post by Grechen I totally agree with her post.
I love the way she acts surprised! Hilarious.
Like she doesn't know her own body.
Anyone who makes such an unnecessary comment to someone should be pitied.
I always believe that if you have nothing nice to say then move on and look at someone else blog!
    Great links, as always.
