Well wait no more – the 40 plus woman is going strong in all areas of life, not least fashion blogging! I thought it was time I did yet another round up of all the best older fashion bloggers who blow me away with their amazing personal style. I featured a second round up of over 40 fashion bloggers in February (after the first one in 2014) as there are just so many out there.
I simply got impatient about featuring them as the list keeps longer and longer (I’m glad to say) – this list is not exhaustive!
When I started blogging five years ago I tried very hard to find blogs by older women, and there weren’t many out there – or at least they weren’t getting the recognition they do today, thus making them go under the radar.
I am beyond pleased to see bloggers over 40, over 50, over 60 and older being regularly featured on fashion and style websites. And what’s refreshing is that they’re starting to pop up on lists of “bloggers with amazing style” amongst women of all ages, not just lists of older fashionistas.
So this list is of bloggers simply “over” 40, with no age limit. And these women certainly don’t have any limits to their creativity: There are women of all shapes and sizes with wildly different styles – as well as age. The great thing to remember if you’re looking for inspiration is that these are all ordinary women – no celebrities or supermodels – who dress themselves without stylists.
Which is what makes them rather extraordinary, don’t you think…?

I’m a big fan of Cathy’s understated-chic-with-a-twist. Although her style is quite classic and full of neutrals, she’s always got a quirky twist like mannish brogues, a neck bow tie or a fabulous hat. Her outfits are very wearable, very elegant, and have more than a little funk.

I only discovered Sylvia recently – I had to have a lie down after scrolling through her outfits… Can you tell she’s French? Not only French but a Parisienne living in the US, and she has style oozing out of her pores. Having an eye for stylish combinations and beautiful accessories doesn’t even begin to describe how chic she is. I’m still trying to get over that white feather dress with the pearls… just stunning.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that “Georgette” is a lot like “Gorgeous” – there couldn’t be a more apt name for this blogger’s love of colour and print. From her infectious smile to her stunning hair, Georgette’s outfits always put a smile on my face (I’m so envious of her skirt and dress collection). A woman who really knows how to dress her shape.

Like Georgette, never was a blogger more aptly named than The Sequinist. Lisa’s love of sequins is all too obvious (that evil eye dress is to-die-for), and she doesn’t save them for the evening, either: Sequins and sparkles abound in her everyday outfits. She has a knack of seeking out wild and creative looks that are all “so Lisa”. A blogger who is now a very good friend of mine IRL, she’s nicknamed Sparkles, and for good reason.

First of all I have to mention Sheela’s shoe collection: Probably one of the greatest in the blogosphere. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen her in the same pair twice, and they’re all heels (she told me she has no flats at all. None). Another wildly creative blogger, there is almost no way to describe her style other than it’s a bit sporty, a bit bold, a bit bohemian, a bit colourful, a bit maximalist… Eclectic, in other words, and wonderfully so.

Carelia is a petite blogger who breaks every rule in the book there is for petites. She wears everything she’s supposed to avoid: Maxis, cropped wide leg pants, flats… But she puts her own unique style on everything and just looks incredible. Every. Single. Time. If her fun, bold style doesn’t draw you in, that gorgeous face and beaming smile will.

Emma has a wonderful understated elegance that’s punctuated with bright colours, bold patterns and gorgeous accessories (my kind of style). A tall, statuesque redhead, she always adds a fun element to her outfits that at first seem simple, but really are full of interesting details while still being totally wearable.

I’d describe Jamie’s style as “funky chic”: She rocks a lot of the latest trends (bomber jackets, off the shoulder tops, lace up flats) but wears them in adventurous ways rather than looking like a clone of a Instagram star. She has an eye for great colour combinations and luxury details and is always polished but with a hint of undone-ness (and yes, that’s a real word).

Ah, Judith – as one of the fabulous Advanced Style fashionistas you’d have to have been living under a rock not to have seen her photos pop up on the interwebs, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t celebrate her sartorial fabulousness here. Never without an incredible hat, Judith’s style is grown up elegance and unadulterated fun all rolled into one – she inspires me so much because she looks like she’s playing dress up for grown ups every day. To see her “hat room” would be a truly wondrous sight.

I had a hard job choosing just three outfits from Lisa’s blog – she had an endless stream of bold, fun and inventive combinations (I’ve been taking notes). She doesn’t shy away from pattern, colour or interesting fabrics, and wears ladylike elegance one day followed by tomboy chic the next. And can we just mention the hair? That stunning, rich silver colour is just incredible and makes me rethink my red every time I visit her blog.

With a very pared back, minimal style, Mary is so sophisticated, so chic, and so understatedly glamorous. She’s a big fan of black and white and simple, graphic shapes, and yet she’ll introduce small on-trend details like bell sleeves or a flatform shoe to really elevate her look from nice to wow. When I’m looking for chic, minimal style inspiration, I’ll always look to see what Mary’s wearing.
