How to Wear All-White Without Feeling Like a Giant Marshmallow

How to style white dungarees in the summer: Grey marl t-shirt, white shoes, tan crossbody bag (great for redheads) | Not Dressed As Lamb

Happy Monday folks! I thought I’d show you another way to style the white dungarees I bought this summer (last seen without a t-shirt and with red espadrilles). All-white can be difficult to wear without looking like (or rather, feeling like) a giant marshmallow…!

I think what’s great about these dungarees is that they’re not pure brilliant white, they’re actually off-white. That can cause some problems where matching white accessories is concerned, but I think off-white always looks good with neutrals. So for this weekend’s casual look (that you may have seen on my Instagram stories!) I threw on a grey marl t-shirt and added my tan crossbody bag that matches my hair of all things.

Rather than donning tan shoes (and I wanted something a little flatter than the tan heels I have) I wore my off-white block heel shoes – it was just a stroke of luck that they’re off-white too. Apparently white shoes are THE shoes to be seen in at the moment, so of course that makes me [ahem] the ultimate in on-trend fashion bloggers. Oh, the lengths I go to to make sure I’m ahead of the game 😉

Anyway – the trick to avoiding marshmallow-like status in all white!

SHOP THE LOOK:

I think it’s a good idea to wear something that’s belted – anything too voluminous and you could end up looking like the Stay Puft Man. But as this link up is called #iwillwearwhatilike, I say go for it if that’s the look you’re after – you don’t have to listen to me (or anyone)!

ARE YOU AN ALL-WHITE FAN? DO YOU ADD BRIGHTS OR NEUTRALS – OR KEEP IT PURE? TELL ME IN THE COMMENTS !

Oh that almost last photo is beautiful. As for the outfit… I like it, but I prefer your previous styling with the red shoes. Although I fully understand it needs to be warm for that. Which it is at the moment in England, isn't it?

I fell in love with this coverall/jumpsuit hybrid the first time you wore it on your blog, dearest Catherine, so I'm very happy to see it again!! As you know by now, I'm a HUGE fan of all things white, black…and every combination thereof!! 😀 And matching your bag to your hair is GENIUS…you are most definitely a personal style blogger that's way ahead of the game!! 😉

Catherine you could never look like a marshmallow! Ha, ha. This is a great outfit and I like the casual style. Love your bag and shoes, very cute. I don't wear much white although this summer I did splurge on some white pants and white crop pants. I am even thinking next summer I might invest in a white skirt. I think I finally figured out if I wear the white on the bottom it isn't next to my face making look washed out. I do have a pair of heavier white jeans that I wear in the fall and winter too, so I guess I do wear it more than I thought. Yes I am rambling. Thanks for posting. You always look lovely. – Amy

I echo Dawn's comment—nothing like a marshmallow—in fact that thought never even crossed my mind.
I absolutely love the all white with pops of other colors. Usually I'm a color girl, but I've been learning to tame my color with other neutrals too! Funny because starting tomorrow, we're featuring white dresses—and again, I never thought of the marshmallow analogy!!

The thought of a marshmallow never struck me before but it should have – what a fun image, although not necessarily for an outfit. Hahaha. You certainly don't look marshmallowy here. Love your all-white ensemble. Thanks for the linkup. I aspire to this quality of photo and your locations are so open. Sigh.

Love your all white outfit! I wear white shirts and occasionally white jeans, but never together. I might have to give it a try before Fall arrives.
