It seems only right that – as we’re nearing the end of June – this week’s #iwillwearwhatilike theme is summer dresses.
Despite the UK’s hit-and-miss summer so far I was determined to wear my favourite yellow sun dress with gold and orange at the weekend. This dress was first seen on the blog two years ago (another one of my Grace Kelly-style outings) and to be honest there haven’t been many opportunities to wear it since. The coral cashmere sweater was either around my shoulders preppy-style or worn properly over the dress depending on whether the sun was in or out. The joys of a British summer…!
Yellow dresses are my number one weakness when it comes to buying summer clothes: I already have about four of them and it’s always the colour I automatically reach for when browsing the summer sales. The yellow Twitchill dress I wore for the Hobbs photo shoot last month is a firm favourite – I’m still debating whether it’s just too similar to warrant buying.
(This is where you tell me in the comments to stop being ridiculous and NOT buy it… please?!)
I think perhaps my obsession is getting out of hand – I always blame Sandy in Grease with her lemon yellow fit and flare dress (my six-year-old self was more obsessed with ‘sweet Sandy’ rather than ‘sexy Sandy’). My mum made me a dupe when I was about 18 and I’d give anything to have it back…!
Add all of your outfits to this week’s link up below – and if you add a summer dress (not forgetting to add a link or my button to your post) you may be featured next week!

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!
The link up goes live every Monday at 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!
PLEASE NOTE
This is for linking up what you’ve been wearing (or would like to wear) only. I like to keep it all looking tidy because I’m a bit of a neat-freak, so non-outfit links will be removed – it’s only fair to others linking up!

I'm a sucker too for a yellow dress Catherine. This simple yet elegant style is perfect for your figure and I love the belt you chose to cinch in your tiny waist. The bag is a great match too. Thanks for the linkup party again this week x

such a gorgeous dress! perfect for the summer!
It's been less than summery here in Vancouver as well, dearest Catherine; certainly waaay too chilly to wear any of my sundresses…so I've had to make do with my linen trousers and a moto jacket for some extra warmth!! But this week is (finally!) looking promising, and I have my fingers crossed that I'll soon be able to follow your lead with a sundress outfit of my own!! I'm loving this yellow and orange combo – it's a "natural" with your hair!! XOXO P.S. Have you bought the Twitchill yet?! 😉

And thank you so much for featuring me, I`m honored.

This shade of yellow is beautiful on you. I hope you will wear this dress more often, it's such a great dress!

Lovely to see this dress making another appearance. Yellow and orange what a fun, zesty combination that just shouts Summer. Your dress may well finally prompt summer to turn up and stay!

Nothing says summer more than a yellow dress and this looks fantastic on you. I like how you've punched it up a bit with the bold bag and that studded wrist bracelet. Thanks for the linkup.
I love yellow so I can't tell you not to buy another yellow dress…in fact I'd positively encourage it because it suits you so beautifully. You look like a ray of sunshine!

Okay…I'll be one of those people to tell you that you don't need that yellow twitchill dress. It's gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but there are so many similarities to this dress, that I bet most people wouldn't be able to tell a difference.
Maybe you need a green dress?
I do love the orange shoes & cardigan with this—that's my kind of color love!

Yellow is definitely your colour, I love how it pops against the coral. If yellow is your go-to colour and suits you this well, who am I to say stop buying? Buy more! 🙂
Thanks for hosting- linking up again (although, I'm having trouble adding the button to my post, so I have added a link)
You look great in yellow and this dress looks fab on you. Such a summery and stylish look 🙂

I'm going to tell you to stop being silly and BUY THE DRESS! It's obviously your colour, you look great in it and it makes you happy. So why not get an extra 🙂
My favourite dress has to be the maxi. I do wear other styles but I feel far more comfortable in a maxi.

Gorgeous, gorgeous dress! I can see why you want another one. My favorite style of dress on me is a shift dress…they just fit my body type the best.

I don't think you can have too many yellow dresses! In fact, I just realized I don't have a solid yellow dress yet! I'll be on the lookout now. 🙂
Oops sorry Laurie for making you shop…! haha thank you, though you're naughty to encourage me!!
I just bought a cute little yellow sundress – yellow is one of my favourite colours to wear too. I think you look incredible in this outfit, the shoes are gorgeous, and so are all the accessories. Beautiful!

Aww thank you Suzy – you won't regret buying a yellow sundress! I'd have dozens if I could!!!!
You look divine. Such a pretty dress and styled unexpectedly. At least unexpectedly to me.
I cannot tell you to stop buying yellow dresses as I am terrible at these things myself.
Greetje
Oh but you must, Greetje…!! ;)) haha thank you, from one serial shopper to another x
Yellow is SO beautiful on you Catherine. It really suits you and your sunshiny personality! I love what you've done here style wise, you've taken this classic pretty yellow Grace Kelly style dress, added some 70s leather pieces with the belt, bag, and sunnies AND THEN put your trademark orange on top of it, for an extra hit of sunshine. This is that voodoo that you do so well! xxx
Voodoo, love that Lisa!! 😉 Thank you my lovely so much x
Well, I think you know that I love your yellow sundress! I had a very similar one that I used to wear year after year. I really wish I still had it. You look gorgeous. The epitome of a sunny day! I think your gold star ring always looks stunning, so thank you very much for featuring it and thank you for featuring my pop of colour from last week, love Liz xxx http://www.whatlizzyloves.com xxxx
Hehe yes I knew you'd love it being yellow, Liz!! The ring just looks right with so many outfits… It's definitely my fave gold ring right now! Thank you sweetie x
