A couple of weeks ago I mentioned a photo shoot I did with the lovely team from Hobbs in my nearby town of Exeter – I can now tell you what it was all in aid of, and I’m so excited to show you the full set of photos!

Next week Hobbs are opening a new store in Kensington High Street, London, and they’re celebrating with a series of events (see below). On Wednesday 8th June there will be an in-store Style Session open for everyone to attend and it will be hosted by… me!

So if you’ll be in London on the evening of the 8th and can make it to the new High Street Ken Hobbs store I’d love to see you there:

“JOIN US ON JUNE 8TH FOR AN EVENING OF SHOPPING, SOCIALISING AND FIZZ, WHEN CATHERINE WILL BE ON HAND TO OFFER HER EXPERT STYLING ADVICE; SAY HELLO TO COLOURS AND PRINTS, GOODBYE TO THE PHRASE, “I’D NEVER WEAR THAT”.”

Hobbs have written a lovely page that introduces me and my style philosophy (which really boils down to simply “Wear whatever you like”) wearing the outfits from the photo shoot that I styled myself. We had such a fun day shooting – all the photos are by the amazing photographer Kate Forster… I’m so pleased with the way they’ve turned out.

Hello Kensington: The opening of the new Hobbs store in Kensington High Street
Hobbs SS16: Yellow fit n flare dress, pearl choker | Not Dressed As Lamb (photo: Kate Forster)
There are some really bold, bright and beautiful pieces in Hobbs’ SS16 collection so of course I’m all over it like a rash. There were several more outfits that I was desperate to wear for the shoot but we had to stop somewhere – time for shooting on the day and limited space within the feature were the only things stopping us!

The four keys looks I went for were…

Two dresses for special occasions: A yellow printed fit and flare dress with neutral accessories, and a red pleated maxi that’s great for twirling (and would make a stunning maternity dress as well). Both ideal for weddings, garden parties, birthday parties, date nights, etc.

Two smart casual outfits: One head-to-toe white with snakeskin and tan that’s perfect for easy summer dressing, and the softest, whitest trench over yellow cashmere and printed trousers with a statement metallic hobo bag. The former makes an ideal summer shopping or lunch date outfit and the latter is office appropriate as well as also being suitable for lunch dates or shopping (swap the heels for flats).

Scroll down for more pictures and all the shopping links 🙂

I’d love to see you there if you can make it – it promises to be a fun evening, and tickets are only £5 so reserve yours right now!

I'm delighted to see that Hobbs have enlisted your help for this event. I do visit the Exeter store when I'm in town and love to browse, and occasionally pick up something special in the sales. I think they do really lovely, well made work wear and have a few pieces of theirs in my closet. Your photo shoot looks wonderful and I love that yellow dress on you. Good luck with your event in London!

I love Hobbs for good quality office wear but since I no longer work in an office I've lost track of what they offer. I have very similar trousers (not from Hobbs) and I now realise I must look at their range more often. You look great Catherine!

There is nothing you modeled that I don't like! Such beautiful outfits and colors! Wish I could be in London at your style event. Perhaps someday I will make it to England!!

Well that day at the AW16 press preview when myself and Lisa sent pictures all of the things we picked out for you girls that we saw would suit you…? I think you said we got it spot on for you all!! Goes to show there's something for everyone – so to please 7 women all with very different tastes is pretty impressive I think!

Thanks MLD for the lovely compliment, the red dress surprised me as it's so different to anything I'd normally wear!! x

Oh WOW how exciting! You look amazing in every one of these outfits, although I do LOVE LOVE LOVE the red Santiago dress! I wish I was in the UK for the event… sounds like fun!

Catherine, these photos are just amazing. You look stunning. I never really think of Hobbs as being a particularly colourful brand, but there's plenty of colour here! I remember the old Hobbs store on Kensington High Street; I bought plenty of work suits in there in years gone by, and they lasted for ages. It will be great to see your stylish spin on the label. xxx

Super photos Catherine, you're looking fabulous! What a lovely thing to be involved with, I do like a bit of Hobbs. My favourite pencil skirt is from there. I actually think lots of people associate it solely with tailoring, so it's good to see the pieces you've picked reflect the other side of what they offer xx

  13. 27 May 2016 / 7:25 am

You are looking so FAB! The clothes are all stunning. I am impressed!

  14. 27 May 2016 / 6:17 am

I have always liked Hobbs, just a little pricey for me.so many beautiful outfits here. If I am back from Essex I will be there xx

It was so much fun, Linda!! Thank you sweetie, and yes it would be nice if you could be there…! Maybe one day! xx

Thank you Jane – the cut of that dress is my favourite shape, Hobbs do it in different colours and prints every season. And then yellow is my favourite colour for a summer dress so I'm smitten with it…!!!!!

  16. 26 May 2016 / 4:09 pm

What lovely photos! Hobbs is a brand that's come back onto my radar over the last year or so. I'd wear all of those outfits, the dresses are beautiful!

    Wow Catherine,
Can I share something with you?
I always thought of Hobbs as somewhere a little stuffy, and not a shop I would be interested in buying anything from.
Maybe a touch frumpy and boring?
Well, this post has opened my eyes to the possibilities of looking in a new shop next time I am Glasgow, or Edinburgh!
    Thank you for that.

I totally get that, Samantha – I think a lot of retailers have upped their game in recent years, and Hobbs were always a brand that did a lot of workwear clothes, hence the perception of being a little stuffy you mentioned. But I've been loving their collections for several years now, they do so much more than just clothes for work… I'm a huge fan of their prints and the cut of their dresses especially. I'm glad you'll be looking at them in a different light now! x
