I think we’ve all known for a while that pink and red can be worn together – it’s yet another fashion no-no that’s now a definite yes-yes.
So whether you wore pink, red, or pink AND red for Valentine’s Day (or at any other time or for any other reason), do add your outfits to this week’s iwillwearwhatilike link up! As always the theme is optional so all outfits, accessories and make-up looks are welcome.
My husband and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day, but we did go out this year because it was Sunday and it seemed wonderfully ironic to go and see Deadpool at the cinema. (If you’re wondering, it was awesome and Ryan Reynolds is, of course, absolutely hilarious.) An early morning showing of 9:15 means you miss the crowds and no one is chomping popcorn or rustling sweet packets at that time of the day… It makes cinema-going a relaxing treat!
I thought it’d fun to wear pink and red anyway, and cold weather dictated a coat, scarf and boots. It’s the first time I’ve worn my snakeskin boots (sadly sold out, but these are almost the same) since wearing them just the one time before I slipped the disc in my back. I’m back in heels now and then (when I don’t have lots of walking to do) which makes me rather happy. I think these bright colours of red, pink and lilac look rather beautiful with winter white to set them off.
The location where we shot is actually one of the exits at the cinema (last since here) and I can’t thank Vue Cinemas enough for providing glass walls on the first floor and a bright orange interior. A fashion blogger’s paradise…!
What did you wear/do for Valentine’s Day? Link up all the outfits you’ve been wearing below and tell me about them in the comments (or tweet me @notlamb)!

Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!
So link up all your fabulous outfits (or shoes, accessories, make-up, etc.) every Monday at 3pm UK time – it’ll stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!
My favourite LAYERING outfits from last week’s link up:
(L-R) Prosperity by Renata | Petite Silver Vixen | Mrs. American Made | Living on Cloud Nine | Stylopedia
All I ask of you linking up is that you:
1. Please follow your host Not Dressed As Lamb (via Bloglovin or Instagram)
2. Link up your outfits (blog or Instagram posts) that show how you choose to wear what you like – as many as you like!
3. Please remember this is only for posts of what you’ve been wearing, not links to giveaways or anything else
4. Include a link back to this post if you’re linking from a blog post, or add my button (below)
5. Post your outfit on Instagram (if you use it) with the hashtag #iwillwearwhatilike – Monday’s the day to join in the IG fun
6. Visit some of the other links and share the love!
Copy and paste this HTML code into your blog post or side bar:
PLEASE NOTE non-outfit links will be removed, this is for linking up what you’ve been wearing (or would like to wear) only – it’s only fair to others linking up!
Do share the love and visit as many links as you can (you never know what other lovely like-minded ladies you might meet) – the original Instagram campaign forged some wonderful new relationships so don’t miss out!
I know, I know, it's about the outfit, but don't you love it when you find The Great Wall to match YOU?! I love this wall!!
The other item that is totally covetable, and I really wish I could find a flatter version, are those incredible snake bootis. Wow! Aren't they just super duper cool!?
Love your style Catherine. So much!
Love, Ann from Kremb de la Kremb
The wall's the best, Ann – and it's indoor which is even better!! The cinema on a Sunday morning is unbelievably quiet as you can imagine, so we have that lobby to ourselves. If only it were down the road from us (or in my house, haha)!! Thanks my lovely, you're super sweet as always x
That's a lovely mix of colours and patterns. The boots are fab! It must feel so good to be able to wear heels again!

Oh Emma it does, it does!! They can't stay on too long, or if I'm doing a fair bit of sitting (like being at the cinema!) then I'm fine. Thank you sweetie, so glad you loved the colours too! x
Great styling of this winter white coat with the tartan wrap Catherine. I'm delighted to see you back in heels again, even if it's only for a short while. These boots are fabulous with a capital F x
Anna
Anna's Island Style
I'm improving every single day, Anna – so even since I wore this outfit I'm even better in heels, hurrah!! hehe thank you sweetie xx
Beautiful outfit! Really love the white coat with the lavendar pants and pink top. Very classy looking!!
Debbie thank you, that's lovely of you to say! x
I've worn pink with red, purple with pink, but never have the three met together in one same outfit, with animal print AND plaid thrown in for good measure. Catherine, you are one thoroughly inspiring colour whisperer.
Oh Sheela I love that – The Colour Whisperer! That's such a great compliment, thank you so much #daymade xx
And I've just purchased a pair of lilac skinnies. It's all your fault, you know xoxo
Cute sweater and nice coat 🙂

That's so nice of you, thank you Catherine! x
I'm with you Catherine – not really anti Valentines Day just don't really get it. Neither does Mark so it always passes us by without notice.
I've said it before & I'll say it agian, love love love those boots! So pleased for you being able to wear them finally after your horrible disc debacle xxx
Aww thank you Michelle – it's like having new boots again as I only wore them the once…!
Thanks for hosting Catherine. I always enjoy your creative ensembles and those of the participants.
It's my pleasure, Judith – thank you for the kind comments and for linking up! xx
You look so great in pastels like that blush coloured top! Love the vibrant shades in this post! Lovely!
Aww thanks Kristin – I'm somewhat all over pastels rather early this year! x
You look beautiful! Such gorgeous colours. I think since you went all rosy with your hair a whole new palette has opened up to you hasn't it? And yes that was most thoughtful of the cinema to decorate in a blogger-friendly way! x
I think you're right, Porcelina – I didn't realise it had affected the colours I wear but looking back it definitely has I think…!! Thank you sweetie x
Such amazing boots Catherine but your hair is the best. You look sooo lovely. Thank you for hosting and happy to put that badge on my blog 😉 Have a wonderful day beautiful! Sabina
Aww Sabina thank you, that's really sweet of you!! x
Ohh happy belated Valentines day wishes to you sweetie. And you look as sweet as sweet could be. These colours look just wonderful on you. And that coat… swoon!!! <3
And those boots are on point as the kids are saying these days, i cant wait to see how you style them up over the next few months as they look like they could be such a versatile piece.
We went to see Deadpool yday (we aren't big on V-day either. Deadpool was brilliant, Ryan played it so so well.
Wishing you a wonderful week lovely lady xxx
Wasn't RR so brilliant, Rachel…?!!!! The film was hilarious!!
Thank you sweetie, I can't wait to wear the boots more either. Have a lovely week yourself! xx
Those python shoes are incredible Catherine! Loving the lilac pants, such a refreshing look! Thank you for hosting.

My pleasure, Cherie – and thank you!! xx
Who knew that orange wall would be such a great backdrop? Love it! Love the colors in your outfit too. That sweater looks so soft and comfy.
Thanks so much Amy! x
Red, pink, lilac, orange, blush, snakeskin, tartan!!! Yeah!
That scarf just looks hot and itchy from our heat in Australia 🙂
I linked my pink boxing gloves post. Hope you enjoy it.
xo Jazzy Jack
Gosh yes I bet you're right in the middle of your hot weather, Jack – and no, a tartan scarf don't look appealing I'm sure!! Glad you liked it though, thanks for linking up x
Love the soft colors together. I remember growing up that red and pink together was such a big no no and it is such a great combo! Thank you for hosting and hope you are having a fab week!

Hope to see you Thursday for TBT Fashion link up.
It's one of those colour combos that the more I see it, the more I love it…! Thanks sweetie, see you Thursday x
Lovely outfit, and, yes, amazing background. You are such a beauty, Catherine, and sweet for highlighting my post from last time. I love these #iwillwearwhatilike linkups! : ) Ana
Aww it was such a great outfit, Ana – that jacket was so pretty!! Thank you sweetie, glad you liked the post this week! x
Thank you for featuring my layered look from last week, Catherine. When I saw the first image of you in front of that orange wall with the red scarf it looked so perfect my first thought was "I hope this is inside her house somewhere". You just look like you BELONG with that colour! I'm SO pinning it. xx
Thank you Lisa – if that wall was in my house I'd be repainting and photographing against it all the time!! We live in a terraced house with small windows so there's nowhere near enough light coming in (or enough room!) – I'd have a big house with high ceilings and large windows if I could just for taking photos…!!
Oh and it was my pleasure to feature your layered outfit, the two shirts together worked SO well!
Yay, thank you for featuring my layered look alongside the other 4 ladies. With it being the BAFTAS last night, I feel like I've won an award!
You certainly had a great backdrop to do your photo shoot against! So satisfying when that works out! Although 9.15am??? On a Sunday???
I love the way the scarf and the bag tie the whole look together. Beautiful colours all working in harmony together and then to top it off those fierce snakeskin boots grounding the pastels colours and giving the look an edge.

Aww Jacqueline I'm so glad, it was my pleasure to include you!! Thanks for the lovely comment sweetie, so pleased you liked the colours x
Love this eclectic ensemble. A really unique and interesting combination of colours, especially with the backdrop.
I've heard only good things about Deadpool. I want to go see a fellow Canadian kill it : )
bisous
Suzanne
Thanks so much Suzanne – I rather killed it in the brights department this week…!! And RR really does kill it – in every sense of the word, hehe!! x
I absolutely love pink and red together, especially in your outfit! I really want to see deadpool too, it looks so good.
Deadpool was so good, Laurie – but I hope you have the stomach for gory violence…! But it is incredibly funny 😉
Thank you my lovely x
Only you can pair these colours so perfectly well, Catherine!
Love the choice of your location for this post – I constantly keep my eyes open for unique spots and coloured walls 😉
xx
Annette | Lady of Style
Thank you Annette – thought they do get "thrown together" somewhat…!! xx
Red, pink and lilac combo works really great on you Catherine! I feel inspired:)
And I am so happy that you chose my LAYERING outfit as one of your favourite from last week's link up. Yay!!!
Renata xo
It was my pleasure, Renata – I loved all the soft whites and pinks you wore! Thank you sweetie, glad you liked this week's brights 🙂
Pairing ruby red with lilac is such a stroke of brilliant Catherine — especially around Valentine's Day. Such a fresh take on a tried-and-true combination!
So excited to be a part of the link-ups too! I'm already looking forward to every Monday's theme now!
Xoxo,
Ashley || Sed Bona
Aww Ashley I'm so glad you're linking up – your outfits are always a treat! And thank you for the lovely comments, you're such a sweetheart xx
I love running across new potential sites for photos too, preferably indoors and somewhat private as an escape from foul weather. This orange is excellent!
Your outfit in pinks and reds and lilacs is so much fun. Thanks for the linkup.
The problem I usually have with indoor locations is the lack of light, Melanie – so this one with the all-glass walls is brilliant!! Thanks so much sweetie xx
Love the mix of soft colors , the lilac, and palepink and pop of red. Fab! WE go to the movies in the afternoon.. 3ish orso, Im not such a late nice person, we saw Revenant. Anyhow, those boots rock as well. Since I got the lilac cashmere wrap, I had found a pair of lilac t strap shoes for spring, so it is a fav of mine.
jess xx

Thank you Jess, so glad you liked it! We want to see The Revenant too, Leo's my absolute favourite actor… Basically if he's in a movie I want to see it, no matter what it is!!
A gorgeous and unexpected combination, C! And fabulous boots, xo

MUAH thank you Patti! x
Love the fabulous mix of colors! So pretty. Going to the movies on a Sunday morning or early in the afternoon is the only time my husband and I go…in my opinion it's the best time!
Debbie
http://www.fashionfairydust.com
It IS the best time, isn't it Debbie – we only found out last year they did early Sunday morning showings which I think is great! Thank you sweetie! x
Red and Pink ! well you have proven that it's great together! I love how this all looks against the backdrop, so clever. Thank you for hosting, and great to see you in heels again.
Laurie x
I have to admit I did know in advance about this wall, Laurie, and knew it'd be a great backdrop…!! Thank you sweetie for your lovely comments x
Fabulous outfit! I love how all the colors that are not supposed to go together look fabulous together! And the boots are great, too! I was very tempted by them in the fall… I'm also glad that you are well enough to wear heels again for short periods of time!
We hosted a wine tasting party on Saturday night and let's just say not much happened yesterday as a result of it… 😉
Thank you Andrea – I always figure that if colours are from the same colour family then then they should work together… Don't know that that's really the best way to do it, but it works for me 95% of the time!
Your last comment made me laugh out loud – I can imagine that wine tasting on a Saturday night WOULD make Sunday a write-off, hehe!!!
Oh my…I was still fast asleep at 9:15 yesterday morning; I feel like such a slouch!! ;D But I could imagine that going to a (really, really!) early show at the cinema MIGHT inspire me to give up my weekend sleep-in, dearest Catherine…along with shopping, movies are my most favourite pastime!! And speaking of inspiration?? This amazing colour combo is certainly that…with those snakeskin boots being the extra butter on the popcorn!! XOXO
http://www.StyleIsMyPudding.com
Thank you Monika!! I know it seems bonkers to go the cinema at 9 on a Sunday, but I love that it gets us up and that by 11:30 we've already been out, seen a movie and done a photo shoot. It certainly makes the weekend last longer! x
Catherine, you have done it again.
Tempting me with the dreaded Lilac…..now in the form of skinnies! Bad girl! :oP
I do love a skinny jean.
These look great.
{Sigh, I feel yet another shop coming on}
None of this outfit should work, should it?
If the fashion "rules' are to be followed then the police are on their way!
All rules are broken in this look.
Yet, it works so beautifully.
The Winter white coat grounding the mix. The punch of the bright bag and scarf, adding depth.
The mix of textures.
Those gorgeous boots providing yet more interest.
I was just thinking about the difference between "Unique & Interesting" and "Wackadoodle".
The subtle things that makes one person look cool and edgy, and the next just look a mess.
You have summed up my "unique and interesting" so beautifully.
Great style is 80% the attitude of the wearer and your attitude rocks here!
Casual, yet elegant.
Edgy, yet feminine.
Beautiful…as always!

Oh Samantha I always love your in-depth comments – they're so much fun to read! So sorry for tempting you with lilac again… I'll have to wear peach with lilac soon, it'll do your nut in, haha!!!
Thank you my lovely for all the lovely compliments, I do appreciate them xx
So glad to come to your party. I wish it was a real one, hahhahhaha
Much love.
