Strong Rich Tones and Paisley Pattern Joggers + the #iwillwearwhatilike Link Up

Layered tunic, roll neck and paisley joggers | Not Dressed As lamb
Pattern’s an easy theme for most I think this week, so I went for something a little different: These paisley pattern joggers are now the first item of paisley print anything I own! In what I hope is going to be one of the last few truly wintry outfits of this year, I’ve gone for a very rich palette of burgundy, black and grey – with a little hit of warm tones in the form of a camel fedora and taupe block heel loafers (LOVE this shape shoe – they’re so flattering and pretty comfortable thanks to the heel).

You might be amazed to know that this whole outfit (including shoes but excluding accessories) comes to a total of £66: Top marks, George at Asda!

I’ve been into my roll necks a lot this past winter, and I do like a roll neck layered under dresses or other tops like this burgundy asymmetrical tunic. The grey and burgundy look soooo nice together – I know they’re very autumnal colours and we’re approaching spring, but when it’s freezing outside it still makes sense.

I’VE BEEN INTO MY ROLL NECKS A LOT THIS PAST WINTER, AND I DO LIKE A ROLL NECK LAYERED UNDER DRESSES OR OTHER TOPS LIKE THIS BURGUNDY ASYMMETRICAL TUNIC.

A quick one from me today – I’ve been away at a blogging conference all weekend and I’m about to shoot off to London (train leaves in a couple of hours, eek): I’ve got myself tickets for the Vogue 100: A Century of Style exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery to celebrate British Vogue’s 100 year anniversary… Can’t wait. (Anyone been to see it already?)

So do add all your outfits – especially anything patterned – to this week’s iwillwearwhatilike link up!

#iwillwearwhatilike | Not Dressed As Lamb
Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

So link up all your fabulous outfits (or shoes, accessories, make-up, etc.) every Monday at 3pm UK time – it’ll stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

PLEASE NOTE
This is for linking up what you’ve been wearing (or would like to wear) only. I like to keep it all looking tidy because I’m a bit of a neat-freak, so non-outfit links will be removed – it’s only fair to others linking up!

Golly, Catherine, what an amazing surprise to be featured in this week's line up, again! Thank you so much. Your Monday link up is a constant in my blogging life and has been since you inspired me to take up writing my own blog in May last year. You have your finger on the pulse of all we bloggers need to know, a genuine modern day oracle, a one-stop-shop. If I have a query, I know you will have covered it at some time. I love all the snippets on IG too where we get an insight into what you're up to. You inspire me, daily x

The asymmetrical hemline of the tunic looks great – I love visual detail like this. To be totally honest I'm not sure about the joggers – and this is coming from a lass who loves print and pattern – maybe because they're joggers and not trousers? Weird, huh? Anyway, ignore me, just personal taste.
However, the shoes are just so retro, I could kiss them. I swear I had a pair just like them when I was 18 – the little tassel and the heel! Ah, happy days.

Sequins are quite underrated and unappreciated, I feel. They can work for any time of the day, any day of the year, no matter the season, and yet most times, they become relegated to after hour dressing. Poor sequin community. I feel for them. And I'm ever so glad there are beautiful strong women who are now championing their cause. Anne looks AMAZING!! Anna, look at her. And I'm completely infatuated with Nicole's pants. I do believe we ought to declare one day in each month as Happy Sequin Day, Catherine, for all the sartorial magpies out there, closet or otherwise!! 🙂

In other news, I am head over heels in love with your vest. The bright red is such a game-changer. Such a warm, passionate hue xoxo

p/s as a newly minted chartered member of the joggers club, I love your pants too

    • 12 March 2016 / 3:19 pm

Hmm I know you love a sporty style (and sequins!!), Sheela!! thanks sweetie x

  12. 29 February 2016 / 6:11 pm

Wow. I love this rich red on you, and with the patterned pants in black and white, looks great! The asymetric tunic looks lovely and a versatile piece. Love that you layered it too. The red handbag is classic too!

That's a shade of red I can really go for. And you just POP against that fantastic backdrop. I'm still trying to improve my photography skills to this level – baby steps. Haha. Thanks for the link-up this week and the ongoing theme of I WILL WEAR WHAT I LIKE.

    • 12 March 2016 / 3:17 pm

oh thank you re. the photos, Melanie – the sun was incredibly strong and normally it's not a good idea to photograph in strong sunlight, but every now and then strong colours work in all that sunshine. It's always good to experiment…! thank you x

  15. 29 February 2016 / 5:12 pm

    Wow! Wow! Wow!
I can't get over how amazing you look here. This outfit is amazing. The layering of the tops is sheer genius. That red tunic style top is just gorgeous. I would never have thought that they were George at asda! Amazing!
As always my lovely friend, thank you for hosting, wishing you the most marvellous week xxx

    • 12 March 2016 / 3:16 pm

hehe yeah George does do some great stuff, Rachel – you and I are both supermarket style queens!! MUAH thank you xx

  16. 29 February 2016 / 5:05 pm

    I love your red top!

  17. 29 February 2016 / 4:37 pm

I love your patterned joggers! It's brought to my attention that I recently made several pairs of yoga pants, but none of them patterned. And me, loving all things floral, and dotty, and striped…so sad! Thank you for the light bulb moment and for reminding me that spring is really, very nearly upon us! Have a grand time in London. The exhibit sounds fascinating!

  18. 29 February 2016 / 4:17 pm

I love the layering, the grey roll neck looks fab under the burgundy top. I'm already eyeing up floral prints, impatient as ever for Spring! Have fun in London! 🙂

Roll necks are such a closet life-saver! I've been finding myself going back to them time and time again lately because they're so easy, so chic, and so WARM for winter.

You are a never-ending source of inspiration when it comes to creatively mixing pattern and colour, dearest Catherine!! 🙂 Loving the paisley print of your new joggers…and the layering trick with turtlenecks (aka roll necks!) is one I've relied on a fair bit this winter, too!! P.S. Oooh…I'm very envious of your trip to London for the Century of Style exhibit; looking forward to hearing all about it!! XOXO

I'm afraid we weren't allowed to take pictures inside, Monika – so there's nothing really to show!! But the exhibition was AMAZING, I can thoroughly recommend it for anyone visiting London!! and thank you xx

  23. 29 February 2016 / 3:32 pm

Hmmmm…I haven't subscribed to the joggers yet, but I these might change my mind. I think I like them because they seem more fitted! Of course the rest of the outfit could be a factor too–it's just lovely! jodie

Love the joggers and I seriously love the hair, my boldest hair change was going back to blond and then adding an under layer of red this time, but no cutting yet…. maybe you will inspire me on the hair front as well as the fitness front
