11 Things I Wore on the Blog Now in the January Sales

Not Dressed As Lamb | January Sales Picks
There’s no dodging the January sales right now – yes, it’s that time of year again already! I’m bringing you my biannual January Sales Picks (with a twist): Each January and June I research all the actual items I wore on the blog that are still available online and now reduced in the sales. I like to show you my sales picks with my own photos so you can see what they look like styled into an outfit.

I’m sorry if anything sells out (I also can’t guarantee all sizes are available), but all information and prices were correct the date the post went live (02/01/16, E&OE).

I LIKE TO SHOW YOU MY SALES PICKS WITH MY OWN PHOTOS SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE STYLED INTO AN OUTFIT.

I’m really pleased [for you!] that some of my most popular pieces are now reduced. From the much-in-demand Hobbs black and white gingham dress to the crazy-comfy and super-flattering light wash NYDJ skinny jeans, hopefully there’s something for everyone. As far as sales generally go, I can always recommend ASOS, Zalando, Boden and John Lewis for some incredible bargains.

I’ve also included some items at the end that I’ve either bought and not yet featured on the blog, things that are similar to things I’ve worn, or things I’ve still got my eye on.

Hope you find some bargains – do you have your eye on any of the items? What have you bought in the sales? Tell me in the comments or tweet me @notlamb!

January 2016 Sales | ASOS cotton twill buttoned midi skirt

1. ASOS Buttoned Cotton Twill Midi Skirt: WAS £32 NOW £17 (45% off)

A proper midi skirt – not a knee-length one like most retailers offer – is perfect for getting a 70s look. Team with long block-heeled boots, warm colours and a white roll neck sweater and you’ll be well on your way to channelling Faye Dunaway and Jane Fonda c.1977.

January 2016 Sales | Jaeger alpaca duster coat

2. Jaeger Alpaca Belted Duster Coat: WAS £499 NOW £249 (50% off)

This is the softest, most gorgeous coat in a versatile neutral colour. Short sleeves may be tricky to style but add a thick, long-sleeved sweater and long gloves if the temperature drops and you’ll be toasty warm.

January 2016 Sales | ASOS shearling & suede drape gilet

3. ASOS Faux Suede & Shearling Gilet: WAS £45 NOW £22 (50% off)

I wear this indoors as much as out: It’s so warm and so massive, plus you can pull the collar right up to keep your neck warm. A pair of neutral Western-style booties with skinnies as I’ve worn here work well – shearling is really on trend at the moment and for only £22 it’s an absolute bargain.

January 2016 Sales | Naturalizer Maureen grey leather & suede booties

4. Naturalizer Grey Maureen Boots: WAS $149 NOW $99.99 (33% off)

Every girl needs a pair of non-black ankle boots, and this pair by Naturalizer are incredibly comfy as well as super-stylish (love the two-tone leather and suede). Wear with boyfriend jeans and a similar window-pane check coat as I’ve done, or pair with cropped peg leg trousers for a smart look for work.

January 2016 Sales | Chicwish Santorini print midi skirt

5. Chicwish Santorini Print Midi Skirt: WAS $69 NOW $39 (44% off)

This stunning skirt has extra layers underneath like a petticoat and is a real conversation piece. If the Santorini print isn’t for you, Chicwish have dozens of other prints in the same style skirt: You could go for New York, London or Moscow, or a poppy field, an enchanted purple forest or an icy blue forest print instead. Plus use offer code SALE10 for an extra 10% off sale items…!

January 2016 Sales | Windsmoor camel cape

6. Windsmoor Camel Cape: WAS £199 NOW £99 (50% off)

For a touch of Parisian chic from a very British brand, this wool cape is half price and will make anything you wear with it look ultra chic. The faux leather edging is very classy and I also like the asymmetrical fasteners. Balance it out with a pair of dark flared jeans for a similar look.

January 2016 Sales | Boden Sylvia floral midi dress

7. Boden Sylvia Floral Midi Dress: WAS $178 NOW $106.80 (40% off)

I first wore this dress on a photo shoot and fell in love with it straight away. The colours are so gorgeous – a really bold statement necklace is perfect for the round neckline, plus the white sandals I wore with it are also on sale (see below).

January 2016 Sales | ASOS Hobby mules

8. ASOS Hobby White Block-Heeled Sandals: WAS £30 NOW £18 (40% off)

A mid-height block heel is really comfortable for walking on your summer holiday (which is exactly what I did in them), but they look great by the pool too. If you’re planning a summer holiday now, get these and a longline kaftan while they’re really cheap.

January 2016 Sales | Hobbs Twitchill dress

9. Hobbs Gingham Twitchill Dress: WAS £129 NOW £64 (50% off)

The dress that got everyone talking – it was so popular after it was featured in the Sunday Times Style that it sold out almost immediately. Thankfully Hobbs got more in stock and there are now still quite a few sizes left. If you want to do a Brigitte Bardot with a gingham dress and cute pointed flats once spring rolls around, don’t leave it any longer to get one of these.

January 2016 Sales | La Redoute trainers

10. La Redoute Multi-Coloured Trainers: WAS £29 NOW £23.20 (20% off)

I’m a firm believer that trainers/sneakers don’t need to be designer brands to look good, and this multi-coloured pair are a really unusual (but stylish) design. The colours will go with all sorts of trousers but I love them with cotton chinos and a slouchy cardigan.

January 2016 Sales | NYDJ skinny jeans

11. NYDJ Light Blue Denim Skinnies: WAS £129.95 NOW £90.97 (30% off)

Without doubt the comfiest skinny jeans I own. I currently have a really painful leg from sciatica (caused by a slipped disc) and these are the only pair I can currently wear: I’ve put on a few pounds over Christmas due to the obligatory overeating and not being able to exercise, but these have expanded with me. I love the light wash colour, and they’re the perfect transitional season jeans – especially when worn with a plain Breton or statement Breton top.
