Formal New Year’s Eve Outfit Inspiration + the #iwillwearwhatilike Link Up

Not Dressed As Lamb | New Year's Eve outfit
Because Christmas is only days away (just four sleeps to go!) I’ve made this week’s #iwillwearwhatilike link up theme-free to keep things simple, and it’ll be the same next week as well. Then in January we’ll continue with the themes, which are optional as always. So come link up anything you’ve been wearing, scroll down for the details!

As I’m a little out of action where outfits are concerned due to my slipped disc, I’ve made up an outfit I’d like to be wearing on New Year’s Eve – I certainly won’t be wearing heels, that’s for sure! I’ve been lusting after all these pieces for ages, not least the sequinned t-shirt. It’s made of this “magic” fabric (earlier this year I tried on something similar so I assume it’s the same) where the sequins either disappear or totally change colour as you run your hand up and down it. Gotta get me one of these…!

The black skirt is floor length and makes me think Parisian chic, especially with those caged heels [she stares longingly into space]… Sorry, I just died and went to sartorial heaven briefly for a moment! I added the faux fur jacket because you need something elegant to keep you warm, and the short length works with the proportions of the maxi skirt.

THE BLACK SKIRT IS FLOOR LENGTH AND MAKES ME THINK PARISIAN CHIC, ESPECIALLY WITH THOSE CAGED HEELS [SHE STARES LONGINGLY INTO SPACE]… SORRY, I JUST DIED AND WENT TO SARTORIAL HEAVEN BRIEFLY FOR A MOMENT

Maybe I should just get this outfit and sit at home in it on New Year’s Eve – it’ll look even better accessorised with a walking stick 😉

What are your plans – both event-wise and wardrobe-wise – for New Year’s Eve? Tell me in the comments or tweet me @notlamb!

#iwillwearwhatilike | Not Dressed As Lamb
Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

So link up all your fabulous outfits (or shoes, accessories, make-up, etc.) every Monday at 3pm UK time – it’ll stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

(I’ll start themes again in January)

All I ask of you linking up is that you:

1. Please follow your host Not Dressed As Lamb (via Bloglovin or Instagram)
2. Link up your outfits (blog or Instagram posts) that show how you choose to wear what you like – as many as you like!
3. Please remember this is only for posts of what you’ve been wearing, not links to giveaways or anything else
4. Include a link back to this post if you’re linking from a blog post, or add my button (below)
5. Post your outfit on Instagram (if you use it) with the hashtag #iwillwearwhatilike – Monday’s the day to join in the IG fun
6. Visit some of the other links and share the love!

I love the heels too but think they are a bit too high to be comfortable. The skirt is lovely but I have something similar which is hard to style (for me) so I don't need another challenge. I linked up but the stupid system finished before I was. I am not a fan of this link-up system. Everybody uses it, but I would love to have a go at the IT guys who made it.
I will link back to you on my blog in next Sunday post as most people have already seen my last post. OK?
    Merry Christmas Catherine.

Yeah as I always say no rules, Greetje – link up whatever and whenever you like!! Always happy to have you 🙂

And I do have issues with inlinkz too sometimes, but I think it was more when I used to try and do it on a mobile or tablet. It seems to like PCs much more with me…!

P.S. You know me, I (normally) find very high heels fine, judging by my super-high heels collection!!!!!!

I absolutely think you should get this outfit and lounge at home in it on New Year's Eve. It's a stellar combination. Plus, at a home party you don't even have to worry about making a fool of yourself or spilling things.
Thank you so much for featuring my gown with these other cool women from last week, Catherine!

If there ever was an excuse for investing in a glamorous new outfit, I'd say being laid up with a bad back over the holidays would be it, dearest Catherine!! 😉 You'd certainly be the ultimate style diva lounging on the couch through Christmas and New Years in this stunning skirt and sequinned top combination…and the consolation prize?? You won't have sore feet because you danced the night away in those killer heels!! XOXO

I love your dream outfit for NYE, in particular the maxi skirt which I'm rather partial to myself, but also that amazing sequinned top. I need to keep an eye out for something like that – it'd look fab with jeans and trainers too. I hope you start to feel an improvement with your injury soon and that it doesn't spoil the festive season for you. Thanks for the link up again this week x

New Years eve…or Hogmanay as it is here is a great party night!
We have a house full of children so it is impossible to get a babysitter even though it is our wedding anniversary.
We were married on Hogmanay…in the snow…so Romantic!
I am inviting friends over again this year for a laid back Cocktail party.
I would like to pretend it is all evening gowns and cage heels but the truth is that it is cosy layers, knits and wool socks…..but no less fun than a posh do.
I do make a mean cocktail, anything you want!
Thank you for including me in this line up of gorgeous ladies from last week….I am chuffed to bits!
And thank you for hosting another fab link up!!
