Sportswear: Scuba Jacket, Track Pants & Nike Hi-Tops + the #iwillwearwhatilike Link Up

Winter sportswear: Scuba jacket, track pants, Nike hi-tops
I’m so glad I chose sportswear as this week’s #iwillwearwhatilike link up theme: The weather was so horrifically grey, wet and windy over the weekend that any pretty dresses or ladylike outfits would have suffered horribly outside. Luckily I could just about get away with a photo shoot of super-casual track pants and Nike hi-tops in this wind that’s still going on today (that we’ll have till mid-week at least apparently).

My sportswear look is made of up of a few key pieces: The obvious Nike hi-tops (last seen here), the khaki track pants (so comfy) and the white scuba jacket (I just love the detailing on this piece). Although it looks freezing in the photos it wasn’t actually that cold… oh, but the wind! It was seriously blowing a gale and I’m amazed I stayed upright at all. Or managed to smile. I think I ended up grinning deliriously in the end from getting blown about so much.

Must mention last week’s link up: So many amazing bold pattern outfits were linked up last week, so don’t miss the ones I’ve featured below. It’s fantastic to see it’s not just the 20-somethings who can rock bright, bold clothes…!

What sportswear (or sportswear-inspired) pieces do you own and wear? Are you a fan of the sports-luxe look or enjoy a simple jeans n’ sneakers look – tell me in the comments or tweet me @notlamb!

#iwillwearwhatilike link up | Not Dressed As Lamb
Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

So link up all your fabulous outfits (or shoes, accessories, make-up, etc.) every Monday at 3pm UK time – it’ll stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

Clever to put the blue sweater underneath it. Looks really nice.
I didn't have anything sporty to show, so I didn't join this iwearwhatilike.

Catherine, that gorgeous sweater is a piece of art…love it. Thanks for sharing your stylish point of view on the My Refined Style Linkup!

Catherine, I came back. I mean, I kind of had to right? I wear sneakers everyday. I am #sportswear right now–as I laugh at myself! Last night (stay tuned for the pic later on today on Instagram), I wore sequin pants with my sneakers. I mean, what has my style come to!? LOL. But, despite it all, I'm just (trying to) maintaining confidence with it all because if I think my sneakers look great with sequins, well, then they do!!! Hahah!

I hope you don't mind all my linkups on this one! Love, Ann

But everyone, else…GO FOR IT!!! Heehee. 😀

Thanks for hosting and for featuring me last week : )

This outfit looks comfy. We are having the same weather as you it seems. That's okay, for Toronto it is quite decent weather for this time of year.

I really like this look! Your scarf looks so nice & cozy! And I really like the sneakers; I don't own any nice sneakers, but I've been thinking of getting some.

  6. 2 December 2015 / 10:02 am

I love your stencil jacket and runners. And I adore your pattern picks from last week – such strong, bold women, stunning. I cheer their style! Thanks for hosting this linkup.

Hi Catherine, what a thrill to be chosen in your Bold Pattern week. Thank you so much for bringing me into the inner sanctum. I love the process of linking up and the opportunity to see all these lovely women stutting their stuff, and with such style! You've been a guiding light for me right from the start when your advice and tips on how to start a blog helped me take my first tentative step. I refer to your pages all the time in an effort to learn and improve my posts.
I love your funky jacket today and how you've styled it – the casual sporty look really suits you. Your look is fresh and fun, lovely!

First off! WoW! You liked my crazy pants with leopard huh?! Awesome sauce!! Thank you for highlighting me. That squeal I get when featured happened in the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep, and thought to myself, Hey! You can link up to #iwillwearwhatilike.

This time around I linked up from Instagram since my feed is filled with runners! I limited myself to five, but maybe I'll go back for round two.

From you outfit I especially love that scuba jacket, I thought it was maybe wool. It looks luxe all delicate with the cutouts. We are just cooling down here in HK, and it's LOVELY!

Thanks for the link up and thanks to you for linking up to mine. Always love seeing you there!

    Love, Ann

  11. 30 November 2015 / 6:10 pm

Whoa, you make sportswear cool!!! I love it! You look brilliant!!!!
    The cut outs are sensational!
I love the detailing, so pretty!
Thanks for your like on my facebook thing- that was really kind! Sigh, the girl in front keeps getting further and further in front of me though I am only 85 behind now! Yay!
    Hope all is well

Aww Kezzie thank you – and good luck on the vote!! x

  12. 30 November 2015 / 5:43 pm

Love the cutouts on that jacket, really takes the look up another notch!

    • 1 December 2015 / 8:00 pm

Thanks Susan – the cutouts were definitely what made me go, "Gotta have that!" when I saw it :))

Great look, Catherine! Something I would wear – and I love the winter white jacket.
    xo, A

    • 1 December 2015 / 7:59 pm

I don't think I'll be able to wear it when it gets really cold, Adrienne – too much ventilation…! ;)) Thanks my lovely x

  14. 30 November 2015 / 5:10 pm

Sportwear is not my favorite outfit, but I love the look you put together. It's casual without looking boring! 🙂

    • 1 December 2015 / 7:59 pm

I'll take that, Laurie – thank you sweetie! xx

  15. 30 November 2015 / 4:44 pm

I'm really impressed that you managed to not only get through the door, but got a great shoot! The weather is appalling here in Yorkshire – gales and horizontal rain. Even lost electricity for a while 🙁
    Much love
    Michelle xx

    • 1 December 2015 / 7:58 pm

It was one of the quickest photo shoots EVER, Michelle!! It was the middle of the day and soooo dark…! Bummer about no leccy for you :((

  16. 30 November 2015 / 4:36 pm

Yes, it's the bad weather season, for the next few months. What a great look!

    • 1 December 2015 / 7:57 pm

And today is the first day of winter, boo…!!!!!!! Thanks Tiina x

    • 1 December 2015 / 5:45 pm

Thank you Mary! The track pants are such a comfy alternative to skinnies and I rather love scuba fabric right now. The holey design did mean I needed a sweater underneath, though!

    • 1 December 2015 / 5:32 pm

Thank you Jamie!! I really should wear it more often…!

  17. 30 November 2015 / 3:39 pm

Would you believe, dearest Catherine, that I don't own a SINGLE pair of athletic shoes?! For months after my DVT first happened, my right foot and ankle were so swollen and painful that wearing anything with laces across the top was just too uncomfortable…so even my walking shoes (which I wear for work, too) are a slip-on style with an open back. Thankfully, laces aren't an issue anymore…although I still prefer them for heels instead of high-tops!! ;D P.S. The cutout details of your scuba jacket definitely take it from a sportswear "basic" to an out-and-out WOW!! XOXO

    • 1 December 2015 / 3:02 pm

That's pretty amazing not to own even just ONE pair, Monika…!! And thank you my lovely, you're a sweetheart as always! x

  18. 30 November 2015 / 3:34 pm

Glad to join you once more, dear Catherine.

    • 1 December 2015 / 3:01 pm

It wouldn't be the same without you, Sacramento xo

  19. 30 November 2015 / 3:26 pm

The weather's foul isn't it? I still go out in ladylike things but suffer!! X

    • 1 December 2015 / 3:01 pm

      It's SO awful, Porcelina!!!!!!! You're a braver woman than I ;))

    • 30 November 2015 / 3:27 pm

Oh my I forgot, THANK YOU so much that you liked my outfit from last week. It was such a coincidence that you actually had bold pattern in the Link up and I we took these pics about 2 months ago.xxo

    • 1 December 2015 / 3:00 pm

Thanks Kirsten – and it was my pleasure to feature that gorrrrrrrrrgeous striped coat of yours!! x
