How to Style a Statement Blazer | With a Red Bandana and Dark Denim

Statement blazer, red bandana, skinnies, lace-up heels

So many individual things I’m loving about this outfit: The statement blazer, the red bandana, the lace-up heels, the white leather backpack, the half bun.

(Pretty much all of it, in other words.) Add a pair of slightly distressed jeans and a classic boyfriend-fit tee and it’s a great transitional season outfit.

I think my outfits are going to be all over the place season-wise for a month or two – the weather can be really cold or really warm in the UK in September, so don’t be surprised to see either jackets and scarves or summer dresses. Plus October will be full of my holiday outfits after I get back from Santorini: They’re still predicting about 27°C until just before we go so that’ll be the summer I waited for here but never had…!

What are you looking forward to in the coming weeks: Cooler weather, a potential Indian summer (that’ll be all you Brits), a holiday abroad, the return of Doctor Who, Halloween…?! Do share in the comments!

So happy to hear I'm not the only one who feels my outfits may be all over the place for the next few weeks while Mother Nature decides what she's up to. Love this everyday-go-anywhere look. The blazer is fabulous and yes, a definite talking point, but those shoes, oh those shoes, I love the little square heel which gives it just a little added edge.

Oh the weather at this time of year is soooooo up and down, isn't it Trina – well in the UK is definitely is…!! Thanks my lovely xx

What a fun blazer and love how you styled it! I have mainly solid color blazers and just have not expanded my horizon to printed ones.

Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next week.

    Wow! This jacket!! Love.

On my to-post list is styling this cute little handkerchief tie look going on. Pretty sure Manrepeller started it aren't you?

Santorini? Awwww, I can see the white and blue beauty all ready. Can't wait to see posts from there.

    Have a great day Catherine!

I have to admit I haven't seen it on MR, I think it was Song of Style I saw it on… can't remember now. But I'm so glad they're back!! Thank you lovely A xx

Love the print and colours on your statement jacket. It really does look like a monet painting. I don't mind Autumn so much although its come about all too quickly.

I agree about it coming round too quickly, sweetie!! And thank you, that's very sweet of you x

I can't wait for the cooler weather so I can get boots out! I love wearing boots, scarves and cozy stuff throughout the winter (which is kinda difficult here in Portugal until late October really!). I love it when it starts to cool down and the nights get darker earlier. Sigh. Can't wait!

Oh we always want the opposite of what we already have, don't we Suzy…?! I'm still longing for warm weather and you want winter – we should swap! x

Thank you Linda – it's all very 90s but I'm introducing the decade back into my wardrobe very gradually…!!

Doctor WHo is about the only thing about Autumn I am looking forward to!x

    • 10 September 2015 / 10:44 am

I assume you mean that you prefer summer to autumn or winter, Kezzie, in which case you're like me!! I can't bear the run up to Christmas knowing it's just going to get colder and darker… no amount of autumnal walks and pretty falling leaves can make up for that (hehe gosh don't I sound like a misery)!!!!

Adorable blazer. It's like a painting so print is so unusual. Definitely looking forward to the return of the Dr. and enjoying Strictly like Samantha. And a new kitchen but not the upheaval that will inevitably happen before then!

    • 10 September 2015 / 10:42 am

Thanks so much Jacqueline – I think it's almost like a watercolour, and they do describe it as a landscape print so you're spot-on! Seems you're a Dr Who fan like me (and wow a new kitchen will be so exciting for you)!!!!! Enjoy 🙂

One word…..SHOOOOOOOES! Oh, I love these (sigh).
They look fabulous! A striking feature, sexy, yet comfortable…not too flat, just perfect.
Distressed skinnies and that fun blazer….a great outfit, right up my street! <3
As for looking forward…. it's Strictly come dancing for me!
I know it is a bit (ha, a lot!) cheesy BUT, it does not take itself too seriously (unlike other shows), it is good fun and I always end up laughing out loud (sometimes clutching my sides).
It's great fun for all the family….and my girls love it! We curl up together on the sofa and dance around the living room.
    Oh and halloween….I LOVE dressing up! Do you think it is okay to put a halloween costume on a blog? I hope so, because I am looking forward to it {I make an excellent old hag!!}
    Great post, Catherine (as always)

Hehe thank you, lovely Samantha!! I don't really watch Strictly myself – I might if it's on but I've never really got into it (doesn't help that the husband hates it).

As for Halloween: YES to putting your costume on your blog, most bloggers do!! Can't wait to see what you wear, I'll be dressing up for Halloween this year for a change, as it falls on a Saturday we're having a full-on Halloween party. Now to work out what to wear…?!!!!!!!

    I love the blazer!

I'm looking forward to wearing my fall clothes!!! It's 100+ degrees here all week…

    • 10 September 2015 / 10:38 am

Thank you Andrea! Maybe we should have swapped a bit of weather – our summer's been so rubbish, we've barely had ANY hot (or even very warm) days…!!

  12. 9 September 2015 / 5:15 pm

Yep, I can join Patty and Suzanne. A nice outfit. Casual but interesting.

Well, thanks to Daniela (The Pretty Cute) I am more into dresses now. This Sunday I am showing a particularly good one. And I am really enjoying them again after wearing skinnies for so long.

    • 10 September 2015 / 10:36 am

Aww Patti thank you, it was the first time I tried the half bun and I really loved it!

    • 10 September 2015 / 10:36 am

Suzanne thank you!! It's definitely a bit of a talking point…!
