How to Style a Camo Jacket: With Boyfriend Jeans and a Slogan T-Shirt

Casual style | Army style camo jacket, boyfriend jeans, slogan tee

I think I’m in my favourite time of year for dressing – not too hot for a jacket, warm enough to get away with just a t-shirt underneath.

This outfit actually started with the khaki cap, slogan t-shirt and jeans and I grabbed a jacket on the way out; it was only then that I realised the cap and camo jacket were both military-style. I did stop and wonder whether to change one or the other, but as it was the weekend and I was only going out for some grocery shopping I thought I’d just go with it. Having a sportswear contrast with the black slip-ons helped – this wasn’t the time for my black army boots…!

I’ve loved army-style caps since I saw Rosario Dawson in the Chemical Brothers’ Out of Control video in 1999 – I think it was not long after that I actually bought this cap (and another the same in black). I was also a fan of Linda Hamilton in her sleeveless tank and cargo pants in Terminator 2 – some styles never leave you I guess!

Finally I must mention the fabulous “Self-confidence is the best outfit” slogan t-shirt that I was sent by my lovely blogger friend Ann of Kremb de la Kremb. She sent it to me as a thank you for some help I’d given her with her blog – how utterly sweet is that? It’s also a sentiment I couldn’t agree with more πŸ™‚

Have you ever experienced some real love or support sent your way by another blogger? I’d love to hear everyone’s stories of love in our wonderful community…!

Catherine x

This military-style cap is too cute, dearest Catherine!! I'm not a fan of baseball hats, but I've actually been looking to add a cap like yours to my headwear wardrobe…I just can't seem to find one that will fit my big head properly (ha ha!!) P.S. Blogger love and support?? Well, no one has given me more of that than YOU have, lovely lady!! If it wasn't for your cheerful tweets and words of encouragement, I might have given up on blogging when I broke my foot last year; but instead, I persevered with my outfit posts…even with that ugly cast on my leg!! XOXO

Aww Monika you're the sweetest! I was just trying to cheer you up when you broke your foot – I couldn't imagine how frustrated you must have been. Thank you so much for your lovely comments (not least this one), I look forward to seeing you in an army cap sometime soon ;))

I had a hat that is almost identical that I love to wear and personally feels more chic than a baseball hat. And how sweet is Ann – love this casual chic outfit!

Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you next week. Have a great weekend!

I know what you mean about it just having the edge over baseball caps, Alice – though I've got lots of them as well…!! Thank you sweetie x

Somehow a camo print acts like a neutral, just like a leopard print, even though the pattern can be quite busy. The jacket is great, just what I'm hunting for – only mine has to be more fitted! The cap looks cute on you, turning this rather masculine outfit into a feminine one (along with the blue nail polish). A lovely relaxed outfit, with built in self-confidence πŸ™‚

You know you're right Tine about it being a neutral… I've not of it like that, but it is!! And thank you for your lovely comment x

Yay! It's warm enough to wear the tee–the tee with the best message! You do such a good job Catherine of reminding us that confidence is worn just like any item of clothing, accessory, or shoes. You've helped me so much, so when I saw this tee, it was the least I could do but share it with you!

Thank you so much for creating such a positive environment for fellow bloggers. Also, the biggest thanks goes to you for always taking the time to give so abundantly to those of us trying to get better at blogging. That's why you're so great–because you help others to also become good!

Here's my first attempt at styling the confidence teepaired with my standard black culottes . You're reminding me that it's time to bust it out again for another styling! Your outfit is perfect!

    Big hug!

    Love,

Ann from Kremb de la Kremb

OH! I forgot to answer a bit of the question in regards to my blogging community! I have to share that a friendship has been made with Audrey from Frassy because of you and one of your link roundups. Then because of Audrey, a friendship has been formed with Vanisha of A Life Un-Styled when she tagged her in one of the 20 people she recommended to follow on Instagram. I love it. I just keep meeting more and more awesome individuals because of all the connections made within my blogging community–of which you are a vital part! Mwa!! A x

Ann you're the loveliest!! I love my tee and I'm so glad it's finally warm enough to wear without needing a sweater on top! I'm chuffed to bits you discovered Frassy – I'm sure you've realised that she may be a "top blogger" but she's also really lovely and always interacts with people… a rare thing indeed.

Thank you again, not just for the tee but also for being such a lovely friend xoxoxo

Hi Catherine, we can safely conclude now that you look good and cool in literally anything! Even a binbag I think (;-)) I do not have anything military, I think my face looks too stern to wear something like this outfit but I do really like it! Hmm, maybe khaki nail polish…..

    • 12 May 2015 / 10:32 pm

Aww Irmin you are SUCH a love, thank you!! I have khaki nail polish, it's very flattering :))
