Featured: Not Dressed As Lamb in Good Housekeeping Magazine

White LK Bennett midi dress SS15
As I mentioned on my Instagram a couple of days ago, magazine features are like the No.19 bus: You wait ages for one, then two come along at once…!

This photo is in April’s issue of Good Housekeeping that’s just come out and I’ve really been looking forward to seeing it. The feature is the bloggers’ Best Dress Edit (see below for Alyson, Jane and Amanda’s pictures) and I couldn’t be happier with the final image! Thank you photographer Neil Cooper, hairstylist Petros Mairoudhiou and make up artist Caroline Piasecki for making me look so glamorous. You’ll see a bit of a theme with my summer dress shape of choice – another sleeveless midi, this one being what I thought would be the perfect short wedding dress by LK Bennett… it fit me like a dream and was so beautiful. I tried to stuff it in my handbag at the end of the day, but it just wouldn’t fit ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’ve added some of my photos from the day below together with pictures of the dress that didn’t make the cut, plus the dresses featured that I could find online also have links included.

That’s probably my glamour quota for the year all used up following last Sunday’s post – I love the irony of the timing, considering I wrote that being a full time fashion blogger isn’t as glamorous as people might expect just last week. What do you think – a onesie or pyjamas outfit post next…?!

Good Housekeeping April 2015

Not Dressed As Lamb - Good Housekeeping shoot
Above: Pictures taken on the day including the other, shorter, dress I modelled – I really loved this one too. It’s from Boden.

Good Housekeeping blogger feature
Left: Alyson – That’s Not My Age | Right: Jane and Amanda – The Women’s Room

The other three ladies looked so fabulous as well – the dress over trousers style is proving to be very popular. I also had my eye on the floral Boden dress Jane was wearing (though I can’t find that one online yet).

I must also mention that Alyson, who’s been a fashion journalist for many years, has just published a new book: Style Forever, The Grown-Up Guide to Looking Fabulous. I was sent a copy and although I haven’t read it all yet, what I have read is superb. It neither dictates to older women to go all Parisian chic with trench coats, navy sweaters and ballet flats, nor does it push bold looks à la Iris Apfel down your throat. She’s given lots of style tips but they’re up to date, wearable and decidedly not dull. Neither is her writing, and nor are the illustrations (which, by the way, are simply fabulous). Miss it at your peril…!

Thank you Jess – though I can't take the credit for the styling, that was all down to their amazing team! I'm such a white dress lover too :))

Indeed another fabulous and beautiful GLAMOUR feature. Indeed irony. Hopefully this wasn't all for 2015. It might even snowball (others seeing your, getting interested and so on).
Looking perfect in the shoot my dear, just as you did with the other shoot.

  7. 9 March 2015 / 1:32 pm

Haha, totally would dig a pajama post! ๐Ÿ˜€ I read your post about the unglamorous life of bloggers and I agree on every point. Even though I'm more of a hobby blogger, it takes a lot of my time, hours and hours of work, most people assume I just sit on my arse and get photographed. And as you said, most bloggers try to share positive and beautiful things from their lives, the world is a crappy enough place, so if I have an opportunity to take beautiful photos and share my happy moments, well, yes I'm going to!
Okay, got a bit carried away, really happy for your features! Congratulations, will have a glass of wine in your honor, or maybe 6 glasses, depends! ๐Ÿ˜€

    • 9 March 2015 / 3:40 pm

Would you believe it, I may well be appearing in my PJs or my onesie at the end of the week for something, Keit… watch this space!! And I really like your take on why you publish beautiful photos and share happy moments – it completely makes sense. Thank you (enjoy that wine, won't you ๐Ÿ˜‰ xx

  8. 9 March 2015 / 9:27 am

Congratulations Catherine, you're looking fabulous in print once again!! That's really super, and such a stylish dress, I love the clean lines.

I might have to pop out and buy Good Housekeeping, and I've already asked my mum to stash the Sunday Style supplement aside for me.

How about a sweaty, sportswear post next to counteract all of this glamour?! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    xx

    • 9 March 2015 / 10:37 am

Oooh I like the sound of a sweaty sportswear post, Sarah!! On second thoughts…

Haha thanks my lovely, so sorry for invading the press just lately!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • 9 March 2015 / 10:35 am
