London Winter Wonderland | A Camel Wrap Coat and Bejewelled Beanie

Over 40 fashion: Camel wrap coat styled casually
So as Christmas draws its final breath for another year, I have my photos from the Winter Wonderland in London’s Leicester Square to share with you as my last hurrah for this festive season.

We spent a few bright (but very cold) days in The Smoke, so my warmest and most comfortable clothes were an absolute must.

I’ve discovered that this camel wrap coat is probably the warmest coat I have simply because it’s a wrapover – with a roll neck sweater and the huge collars there’s no need for a scarf and you sort of bundle yourself up in it. I’m also still loving my bejewelled beanie from last winter – who cares if it’s “so last year”, it’s like a tiara and beanie all rolled into one so I’m happy!

I probably would have liked to have worn a different colour pair of jeans but to be honest I’ve overindulged so much over Christmas all my skinnies are uncomfortably tight… so it’s either these stretchy black ones or boyfriend jeans at the moment for me. I need to get my mojo back pronto and get back into my healthy eating and fitness routine.

Did you overindulge at all over the Christmas period? Are you looking to get into shape (or back into shape) as soon as possible…? Let me know if you’d like to see another health and fitness post from me!

Rabecca thank you… Weirdly I'm so glad it's cold enough to have to wear it – and I'm a summer girl all the way!! xx

Lovely coat and beanie. As for over-eating. Yes I have, but only gained 1 kilo which is 2.2 pounds I think. Not much but the hardest kilo to get rid of. We are now on the 9th and half of it is gone. No cookies, no chocolate, no nothing except healthy food and fitness twice a week. With so many closets full of clothes I need to stay the same weight. An advantage of a silly hobby really.

Oh goh I can beat you in the weight gain by a mile (ton?!) – I gained over 7lbs (3.4 kg)…. aaaargh!! I've been doing exactly the same as you though since Jan 1st, and most of that excess has gone in 10 days, thank goodness (though it does take 6 workouts a week)! Thanks Greetje x

Ah my workouts are twice a week (an hour each). Not enough. And I used to get rid of extra weight as quickly as you do. You just wait (… she threatened….LOL). As you grow older, you gain weight faster and lose very slowly. Just to let you know what is ahead of you haha

Hehe I really don't get rid of excess weight very quickly – I think it was only because I put SO much on this last Christmas and I got back into a good routine with a huge amount of exercise that it came off so quickly…normally I struggle to lose anything week on week at all. I found out at the age of 30 that it doesn't come off quickly any more and you have to work really hard at it, so what you say it ahead of me is already here Greetje, and has been for quite a while!!! heehee 😉

Awww Chioma, thank you so much!! There are quite a lot to choose from, I hope you find a beauty…! x

Love your pictures, you look so relaxed! Or was this after some mulled wine? Joking of course! I find keeping my face normal very hard when I'm taking pictures of myself, there is always something funny I do with my eyes or tension around my mouth. So hats of and yes I also like your combo very much!

    • 7 January 2015 / 5:30 pm

No, no mulled wine, Irmin… but it was straight after a large (and very delicious) fish pie in a restaurant there – so I was probably in a carbs coma!! So glad you liked it, thanks hun xx

Thank you so much Kirstin – I've become such a fan of camel this winter!!

It was a perfect setting for photos, Ann – in a way easier for the awkwardness of taking photos in public – it's such a touristy spot everyone is taking photos so no one takes any notice of us! Thanks hun xx

The coat is gorgeous, and a very clever game of colors between the crystals of the beanie and your eyes, lovely 🙂

    • 7 January 2015 / 10:55 am

Thank you picos for such a lovely compliment!! x

    • 7 January 2015 / 10:52 am

That's just what I've been doing, Alice – I have to admit I got quite sick of all that rich Christmas food by the New Year. I'm more than ready to get back into my skinnies! Thanks hun, glad you liked the coat x

Hehe thought that might make a few of you go all starry-eyed, JJ!! Thanks sweetie 🙂

That looks like the perfect classic coat, and so cozy, too! I loved the jeweled hat, too.

    • 5 January 2015 / 9:26 pm

Thank you Ginnie – it's incredibly warm, like you wouldn't believe! It's just a bonus that it's camel and gorgeous as well :))

  6. 5 January 2015 / 7:57 pm

Love, love this cozy coat, and send me those boots asap! Great look, xox.

    • 5 January 2015 / 9:25 pm

Aww Patti I've had the boots for so many years I think I'd have to save them if my house was on fire now!! ;)) Thank you sweetie x

  7. 5 January 2015 / 6:58 pm

This coat is BEYOND gorgeous! I definitely need to get back on track after the holidays. Happy new year!

    • 5 January 2015 / 9:24 pm

There's a few of use who've fallen off the wagon, Jenny…! At least we know we must get it sorted, that's always the first hurdle! Thanks hun x

  8. 5 January 2015 / 5:25 pm

Same over here… stretchy trousers and tunics… but I want to be in good shape again come spring!
Love your camel coat, Catherine, I need a new one for next winter.

That's my goal too, Annette! Thank you sweetie, I can imagine a camel coat would look sensational on you!!! C x

such a beautiful coat and beanie and the purse and boots are great as well. Yes I overindulged but thanks to a horrid cold it seemed to offset the poundage. so I am felling unfit but the scales did not increase. ( over the holidays they have increased over this very bad overindulgent year) 2015 is my get back on track year.

    • 5 January 2015 / 9:21 pm

Aww I'm sorry to hear about your cold, Linda! Hope you're feeling better. Nothing offset the poindage for me, I only have myself to blame!! Slowly training my brain again, had my first run in 2015 on Sunday… it was tough but I did it, so I'm on the right track. Thank you hun, so glad you like the outfit xx

You look very pretty and cute! This outfit is sensational because it never comes out of fashion or style. I like the coat combined with grey and white. I made a camel coat myself and DIY beanie, too.

    • 5 January 2015 / 9:19 pm

You made a coat, Martina?! WOW!!! Thank you for your lovely comment, I agree with you about it being classic, I think camel will always be in style! x
