Ad | The Perfect Knee-High Black Boots With Stripes and Plaid

Striped longline blazer with black boots, plaid rucksack and fedora

I think I’ve done it: I’ve found THE best classic knee-high black boots.

With a perfect heel and slight platform sole. That are beautifully comfortable. In a great quality leather. That don’t gape at the top like wellies. I’m in black boots heaven!

These Bellissimo boots from Pavers are my new, go-to boots to wear with everything this winter – for all those reasons and more. I didn’t think it was possible to find boots that fitted my calves so well as I’ve tried so many pairs over the years. Usually I can’t get them done up over my jeans (they’re often made for much slimmer calves) or they are wider and fit my calves but then gape at the top. The best design feature of these boots is the little short zip at the top that allows you the room to get them done up over your calf before zipping the top up neatly… End result: no gaping! If, like me, you have calves that are often just a tiny bit too big for most knee-high boots then take a look at these ones, you may find they’re perfect for you too. The icing on the cake? The price is currently a very reasonable £89.99.

I have written this post in collaboration with Pavers. All content is original, however, and opinions are my own and 100% honest.

For my first outing with the boots I wore them with my grey striped blazer (worn a few weeks ago in this post), the winter essential that is the black fedora plus my new plaid rucksack from Asos. I haven’t owned a rucksack since I left school in 1990… not something I thought I’d ever own again to be honest! In those days, however, they were made of nasty nylon and in garish colours, not lovely soft brushed cotton like this one. I’m loving the subtly rich colours of this outfit – with the boots it’s a win win all round I reckon.

Have you ever been on the hunt for the perfect pair of boots? Do you generally find it easy or difficult to get them to fit you… and have you found THE pair like me? Do share in the comments!

your boots look amazing!! I've had problems to find boots too, actually I own just two pairs, flylondon and clarks, and I took them to the cobbler to make them wider!
fabulous outfit, and even more fabulous accessories!!

I'm am not one of those who can buy basically any pair of boots. I have very thick calves (and when I say very thick, I really mean THICK, 17,2 inches) and it's always a pain in the you-know-where to find fitting pair. So far I have only one knee-high pair, which I've had for years. And I even had to do some fixing on them to make them fit. But I do understand your feeling being in the boot-heaven right now. Fabulous feeling!
I think I might have to invest quite significant amount of money on a pair which is adjusted to my calves. Most boots are not even near on zipping all the way to the top. Usually the zip stops below my calves and leaves even as much as 3 inches wide gap on the top. Thankfully I can still buy boots with lower lengths, they usually fit.

Unfortunately yes – the brands that make boots to fit (with different calf sizes) sell very expensive boots, but I honestly think it's totally worth it if you love boots, Rhia! I bought a tan pair with studs about 6 years ago and I've worn them to death… they don't even need reheeling yet and I always get a lot compliments about them. But I feel your pain!!

    Always soooooooooooo perfect, dear Catherine.

It seems most of us do have this problem, Lauren – girls with very slim calves have the opposite problem too I often find! So yes if you find most boots are *just* a bit too small for you, you might find these are just right…! Thanks hun xx

So freaking cute, dearest Catherine!! I am IN LOVE with this longer striped blazer of yours…if you ever decide to re-home it, please put me at the top of the list!! And your new black boots look an awful lot like the pair I've been wearing almost non-stop lately (I also frequently have the problem with the calves not fitting, so finding some boots without this issue is like winning the lottery, isn't it?!) XOXO

Hehe thanks Monika… not sure I'll be giving it up any time soon, but I'll be sure to let you know if I do…!!! And yes to finding great boots being like winning the lottery. I usually find there's always one little problem with them, and the gaping at the top was nearly always the compromise I had to make. Yay for us finding THE boots!

Love this outfit. Would love to copy it, but I am wiser. I don't have the same figure. Boots are very nifty with the zip at the top. Good inventiom.

Gosh I think this would look much better on you than me, Greetje, with your long legs…!! But yes the little zip makes all the difference to the boots, I'm so glad they added that to them 🙂
And thank you of course xx

I can imitate the look, but need a more structured top; preferably something which hides the belly. In some outfits you would think my belly is as flat as a fourteen year old child, but that is only in SOME outfits not in most hahaha.

    Beautiful coat and hat 🙂

Those boots really are great. I've been considering heeled boots, but I'd hate to get something uncomfortable. These look great and I love the styling!

    • 22 December 2014 / 1:18 am

As you probably know, Gracey, I'm used to heels – but having boots with a heel that are also comfortable is a huge bonus!! Thanks my lovely, glad you liked the outfit x

  10. 20 December 2014 / 4:59 pm

Hi Catherine, how are you? Hopefully not too stress before Christmas. Those boots look so comfortable, urgh I'm terrible in boots so I don't even bother but yeah I wouldn't mind trying on a pair (providing they do it size 2! – not joke!).

I'm good thanks Anna – I love this time of year so no stress from me :)) And gosh your feet really are tiny, that must be tough finding shoes to fit?! xx

    • 20 December 2014 / 11:59 pm

Aww thanks Coco, I'm so glad you love the look too x

  11. 19 December 2014 / 11:37 pm

Great, sleek boots with a walk-able heel. And the backpack is very fresh, love it. xox

    • 20 December 2014 / 11:58 pm

Yes – I agree the heel is very walkable, Patti! You wouldn't believe how comfortable they are! x

  12. 19 December 2014 / 9:49 pm

They are very black! But I like the shape and it looks lke the heel is not too high. I'm more a brown-boots wearer and I found the perfect pair from Scapa.(happy happy happy, in the sale!)

    • 20 December 2014 / 11:58 pm

I'm not normally one for black as you probably know, but when they're this good they're too nice to pass up! My tan boots tend to get the most wear so black is something a bit more unusual for me…! Thanks sweetie x

  13. 19 December 2014 / 7:18 pm

Agree! Those boots are fabulous. Just the right type of heel .. not too skinny .. with a lovely gold zipper detail .. <3
