Christmas Day Outfit | Blue Fit-n-Flare Dress With a Touch of Disney

Pale blue fit-n-flare eyelet dress
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! As our whole family really dresses up for Christmas Day I like to share the outfit I wore: this year I wore my pale blue fit-n-flare dress from Hobbs that I first wore back in May. The 1950s style is so me and I hadn’t worn it since that day so it was my first choice for the 25th. The full skirt helped with the inevitable food onslaught(!) and I added some festive touches with my red two-tone heels and some drop crystal earrings.

The star of the show (for me, at least) was the fabulous gold Mickey Mouse watch that Mr. Lamb (Silver Londoner) got me for Christmas – apart from the gold it’s exactly the same as my very first watch. I love presents that remind you of your childhood, so this was an absolute winner for me. Next year I’m hoping for that Kenner Princess Leia doll πŸ˜‰

Did you receive any fabulous presents for Christmas? And did you own a Mickey Mouse watch like me – I find a lot of people say that’s what they had for their first watch!

I remember this dress very well, dearest Catherine…the slightly "graphic" eyelet pattern is such a great switch-up from the usual floral variety!! And I think it's really cool that you chose a baby blue dress (with red accents!) for your Christmas outfit…plus your new Mickey watch?? Adorable!! πŸ˜‰

I agree about it making a nice change from florals, Monika… it really reminds me of embroidery anglaise fabric which is so often used for little girls' dresses. What with the MM watch I've kinda reverted to childhood a bit!!! Thanks sweetie x

Aww thanks so much Chelsea – I'll tell the photographer!! HNY to you too x

Your outfit is lovely. But it does make me think: "wasn't it cold?" I would have died of freezing but perhaps your family turns the heating right up.
As for the watch, I cannot remember what my first watch was.
I never knew they made Mickey Mouse watches in gold. Your husband knows you well. A very thoughtful present.

Thank you, Greetje! My parents' house on Christmas Day is always boiling! They have an Aga in the kitchen (range cooker) so what with that, the heating on, the Christmas dinner being cooked and a lot of people milling around, we're always really hot. Plus my dad always keeps a roaring fire going in the sitting room…! In fact I now remember we ended up opening the windows on Christmas day because we were all so hot ;))

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas – HNY to you xx

I don't think I owned a Mickey Mouse watch no, but I remember getting one for my 10th birthday or so that my parents had personalised with my horse's face as the background which I loved!
Looking glamourous and gorgeous as always! I like the co-ordinated look and this dress is so flattering.

Can't remember my first watch O_o I can't remember what I ate last night, not to mention something from this far away πŸ˜€ I loooove this Mickey watch though, what did you give to Mr Lamb?
Adore the dress too, it's very classy and the color is perfect for your fiery mane!

Heehee normally I'm the same as you with the memory thing, Keit!! I have a problem remembering a conversation from 5 minutes ago but can remember names and phone numbers and number plates from cars we had when I was a kid… weird?!

Mr Lamb got a Levi's jacket with sheepskin collar from me (so expect that on his blog soon) plus lots of other things – he's a bit too easy to buy for!

Thank you my lovely and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi Catherine, I hope you had a lovely Christmas. I love the blue dress – it remind me more of Dorothy from The Wizard Of Oz then Disney. However I had a Disney watch like that when I was younger, I wonder what happen to it.

Have a great new year. πŸ™‚

Hehe yes I had a couple of Dorothy comments from members of my family on the day, Anna – it didn't even occur to me until they said!! And you're another who had a Disney watch – I was right!!

Thank you my lovely, HNY x

You look beautiful Catherine! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Your watch is amazing, I have one similar that my father gave to me when I was a little girl and I'd wear it now if it wasn't for the broken strap. Maybe I should get it fixed?! Thank you for inspiring me πŸ™‚

Take care and wishing you a very Happy New Year

Ohhhhh Kelsey what a wonderful compliment!!! Any comparison to a Disney princess is the best – thank you! πŸ˜€

  12. 28 December 2014 / 6:17 pm

Such a lovely outfit and wonderful gift, sounds like my kind of get-together with the dressing up! I'm ashamed to say that this year I wore fleece leggings and a tunic, as I was ill and spent most of the day curled up on the sofa. Glad you were still there busting out the glam! Enjoy the rest of the festive season Catherine, and really look forward to meeting you in 2015 I hope! xx

    • 31 December 2014 / 11:24 am

Oh no I'm sorry to hear you were unwell, Sarah – hope you're better now!! We've always dressed up at Christmas in our family, even though no one really "sees" us. And YES to the meeting up, I think I'm another step closer to having the meet up sorted :))

  13. 28 December 2014 / 4:08 pm

Ha what a cool gift! I didn't have a Disney watch but did so love my Noddy clock (until his hat fell off lol). Love the dress, did you have to cook dinner wearing it? I was a right sweaty mess by the time ours came out the oven! Hope you have a happy new year πŸ™‚ x

    • 31 December 2014 / 11:20 am

Oh I missed out on the Noddy thing, Melanie… not sure why but I didn't have anything with him on it?! I did wear the dress the whole day, though I wasn't chief chef (we had Christmas Day at my parents' house) – but a big apron was worn while I was doing my allotted chores in the kitchen… don't ask me how I kept it clean!

Happy New Year to you too! xx
