The Ultimate Resource Guide for the Over 40 Blogger (and Over 40 Woman)

The Ultimate Resource Guide for the Over 40 Blogger (and Over 40 Woman)
I’ve been wanting to write an online resource guide for the over 40 blogger for sometime now, and finally it’s here! As well as being a resource guide for bloggers, it’s also intended for over 40 women who don’t necessarily blog (and 50+ and 60+ women too – it’s not only for those between the ages of 40 and 49).

I’m often asked via email and through social media how to connect with more 40+ women and bloggers – it’s wrong of me to think it’s obvious just because I know who and where they are (you build up a lot of connections after more than three years blogging). I thought a post with all this information in one place was long overdue.

So here is my ultimate guide to all the best places that I go to for Twitter chats, incredible style, information on health and well being for the over 40s and more. I’m intending this to be a constantly updated post, so PLEASE – if you know of any more that you feel I should add please leave a comment with your suggestions.

Tomorrow I will publish my own “Over 40 Fashion Bloggers You Should Know” post to continue my Bloggers You Should Know series and will update this post with the link. I know this guide will help you find a ton of inspiration… enjoy!

Aaah so THATS's where all the 40+ bloggers are hanging out!! 😉 Most of my blogging buddies are at least 5 years younger that me — 15+ in some cases!! 🙂 I quite like getting down with 'da kids' though 🙂 #BrillBlogPosts

Thanks so much for stopping by, Caro… I'm so glad you've found some new bloggers, groups and communities!! I know what you mean about getting down wiv da kids(!) – I have readers of all ages, some are teenagers who I chat to regularly. I wouldn't have it any other way, but many bloggers of 40+ feel isolated as if all other bloggers are much much younger. I like the idea of bloggers of ALL ages interacting with each other :))

What a great idea Catherine, not only is this such a useful post I have also found some new bloggers to look up.
    Merry Christmas

That's so great, Laurie – and Merry Christmas to you too!! Thank you x

This is a very handy list. There needs to be more connections for the 40+ woman. I will check all the suggestions out as I work to connect to other bloggers

    • 16 November 2014 / 12:10 am

That's so great to hear, Jill – I hope you get lots out of it! x

  4. 13 November 2014 / 5:51 pm

Thanks for this, Catherine. As an over 50 blogger (is that an over 40 blogger +10??) the whole learning curve has been steep but so much fun.

    • 16 November 2014 / 12:09 am

It IS a steep learning, curve – you're absolutely right, Susan! And I love your 40+10 description. Does that mean you're a "40 Plus Plus 10" blogger…?!!!! Glad you liked the post 🙂

  5. 13 November 2014 / 1:09 am

Thank you for this list! As an over 40 makeup artist and beauty blogger, it's easy for me to navigate the beauty changes, but not so for the fashion. I will be following all of these!

    • 13 November 2014 / 9:31 am

You're welcome, Meli – but don't forget it's not about fashion bloggers! x

  6. 13 November 2014 / 12:24 am

Great post as usual Catherine. Great tips on how to find the fashion/style blogs but mine and many other s are lifestyle without the number in the title so often hard to find. Will definitely be looking at some of the lovely ladies that have left comments here.
I'm at http://www.pricelesslifeofmine.com I'd love feedback and comments from anyone and would love to find more 40+ bloggers out there to connect with.
    Thanks again
    Steph x

It wasn't as a post purely to find fashion blogs, Stephanie – more of a resource guide (why I included all the websites, groups and Twitter accounts which are for over 40 women, not just fashion bloggers). The fashion blogs list was an extra, if you like! But I'm glad you've found the post helpful :))

Don't forget that you should add key information to help people find your blog in your blog title in Settings – if you hover over my blog name in the tab it's called "Not Dressed As Lamb – Over 40 Fashion". Add that key information in there and you'll get more people finding you! C x

  7. 13 November 2014 / 12:12 am

Thank you for this post Catherine I will be returning to this post a few times for the links. There are quite a few over fourty bloggers, I am finding it hard to find more of us fifties bloggers x

    • 13 November 2014 / 12:17 am

I'm so glad, Laurie!! Don't forget the post I'm publishing tomorrow will include bloggers over the age of 40, not just those *in* their 40s. There are at least a couple in their 50s, and there are loads more besides! Check Sylvia's 40+ Style blog list for more 🙂

  8. 12 November 2014 / 10:01 pm

Thank you for this. I always did wander where are "MY people". 😉
I pretty much only knew about you and maybe 2-3 others.

    • 13 November 2014 / 12:14 am

You're very welcome, Kristina… make sure you're on Sylvia's 40+ Style list! There are so many there. Plus I'm sure you'll be back to see my post tomorrow…?! x

    Here I am!

I am Sevi, 43, Dutch and started blogging a few weeks ago after toying with the idea for nearly 2 years. I was curious to see if there were any other 40+ style bloggers out there, although my inspiration comes from many under 30-s :-).

    You can find me here:

    http://www.mostlyme-certainothers.com

I welcome any visitors, comments, advice or questions.

    Great job Catherine :-).

    • 12 November 2014 / 7:42 pm

Well done for starting your blog, Sevi – I hope it works well for you! Make sure you get your blog listed on the 40+ Style Blogger Community, won't you? xx

    • 12 November 2014 / 8:14 pm

Thank you so much Catherine :-).

Our styles differ a lot but i still like to look at your blog.

  12. 12 November 2014 / 6:09 pm

Thanks Catherine. It's great to see how many sites for over-40 women are flourishing! xox

    • 12 November 2014 / 7:40 pm

Thanks, Martina! If you're not already I'd suggest you get your blog listed on Sylvia's 40+ Style Blogger Community – that's definitely the place to get your blog seen 🙂

    • 12 November 2014 / 7:38 pm

I have now, Judy – thanks so much for the link! I've updated the post so that it's on there now. I've done many searches on Facebook for relevant groups but to no avail. I think the Facebook search tool is just a bit rubbish in finding the ones I want!

  15. 12 November 2014 / 4:14 pm

Thanks for sharing Catherine. I love being an over40 fashion blogger and sharing styles on google+ or fb and bl really helps networking. Sabina @Oceanblue Style

    • 12 November 2014 / 7:37 pm

You're right, Sabina – sharing and networking is such an important part! If only I had more time to do it as much as I want to…!

  16. 12 November 2014 / 4:05 pm

Thank you so much for this, it has saved me much Googling 🙂

  17. 12 November 2014 / 3:33 pm

Thanks! This is great information. I too am always wondering where are all the ladies my age?

    • 12 November 2014 / 7:36 pm

They're all connecting with each other here and on the websites/social media platforms mentioned, Cheryl!! ;))
Hope you find the info useful! x
