Checked Coat and Polka Dots | Easy Weekend Wear

Checked coat with polka dots and denim - over 40 style
I’ve had a bit of a redesign on the blog this weekend… new header and a bit of a fresher, cleaner look. Hope you like it – let me know what you think!

I warned you all that I’d be moving into winter coat territory due to temperatures dropping, and I’ve kept to my word. Last weekend I paired my oversized check coat (last seen in February) with some bold polka dots, and as it was Remembrance Sunday my blinged-up poppy came out for another year. Comfy, easy-to-wear weekend wear – is there anything better?

I mustn’t forget to mention that the UK Blog Awards voting has begun – I’m entered under the ‘Retail & Fashion’ category and I was hoping I might get a vote from you? They’re quite a big deal so I’d really, really appreciate it if you could take 30 seconds to vote for me please:

Voting closes on 3rd December – I will keep you updated (and if you haven’t “liked” my camel coat outfit for the Lookagain style off competition please do so here)! You guys are great, thank you soooooo much.

Are you enjoying comfy weekend wear that you can snuggle into with warmer layers? I’m off to buy a onesie! (Have you got one?) And do let you me know what you think of the redesign too, won’t you 🙂

I just LOVE your style and blog! I'm a 40+ blogger too! I'm not particulalry focussing on my age but just do what I really love and hope it suits me. I wear the things I feel most comfortable in! Much love, Kirsten XX

Thank you so much, Kirsten! The reason I focus on my age so much is because lots of people (and brands) are actively looking for 40+ bloggers as there are fewer of them than the 20-somethings. It's certainly got me a lot more exposure than if I hadn't advertised my age so much… but I do believe that as my readers range from the very young to the very old that I appeal to a wide audience, so once I've got people "hooked" as it were then the 40+ thing becomes irrelevant.

Hope that makes sense! C xx

Thanks hun – it's a really soft pink but it's opaque too, which is quite unusual for pink nail polishes 🙂

I like the redesign, very clean and fresh. Super coat too, you do such good casual looks, they're always nice and polished, whereas I think I get a bit scruffy when I try to dress down!!

Good luck in the awards and that competition, you've got my vote x

Aww Sarah thank you! (for the vote and the compliment about the redesign and liking my outfit…!!!!!)

  7. 16 November 2014 / 6:17 pm

OK, in the U.S. and onesie is something a newborn baby wears so I'm going to assume you mean something else 🙂 Love the coat and dots and the poppy pin is very pretty.

    • 16 November 2014 / 11:39 pm

Umm no – that's exactly what I meant, Carol…!!! I'll be amazed if you don't have onesies for adults in the US?! If you go to Asos (or any other UK online retailer) you'll find loads! See here:

      http://www.asos.com/search/onesie?q=onesie

I didn't realise they had so many for men!! Don't worry, I'd only wear one round the house (unlike the woman in the supermarket I saw the other day in a onesie. I'm not kidding).

But thank you, I really appreciate your lovely compliment :)) xxx

Ooh, love the poppy you made and love your nail colour! [I'm pinning your post to remind me to make us some poppies like this next year – we're ex-pats and I always feel so terrible, not wearing a poppy around Remembrance Day…

    • 15 November 2014 / 11:57 pm

Thank you sweetie – I like wearing mine each year, it makes it more special :))

  12. 15 November 2014 / 4:26 pm
