Breton stripes and dungarees

I’m doing a very alternative French style look for this month’s La Redoute brand ambassador post.

This time I took elements of French style and mashed them together to make a look that’s, well… not that French at all. But a Breton striped top (someone peel them off me!!) paired with dungarees and these much-lusted-after buckled monk shoes from La Redoute results in a simple, tomboyish outfit to add to my masculine chic arsenal. It couldn’t be more different to this recent outfit – talk about a contrast.

I have to point out that these shoes are incredibly comfy – top marks to La Redoute for style and comfort. When I first got them they were so kind to my feet (and I loved them so much) that I just wore them round the house like slippers. Not the tiniest bit of rubbing anywhere – how good is that? And in case you’re wondering: I kept my reading glasses on for the photo. The outfit just didn’t work without them…!

Anyone else sporting monk shoes (either buckled like mine or lace up)? What are you wearing them with – do share in the comments!

Another perfect chic but practical look. this reminds me of Blair -Atlantic Pacific but more approachable and do-able (if that makes sense?) Love this, and your hair in a big french bun is the best! xxx

You manage to look super-cute in your dungarees but I still still think that dungarees are an 'Oh honey, no!' on anyone. Just my opinion…

Oh well Eleanor Jane, you can't please 'em all…! x

You just look so darn cute here, dear Catherine…hope it's okay for me to say that!! I'm always amazed at how you manage to take masculine elements like these cool buckled shoes and work them into your outfits in such a feminine and flattering way!! And these overalls are adorable with your striped top underneath; I have a pair of "short-alls" that I wore over the summer…now I'm thinking I might have to add a full-length version to my wardrobe, too!! XOXO

Aww Monika thank you – I always think that the last thing I'll look (when I do masculine chic) is cute!! And I can recommend dungarees/overalls for ease of throwing something on. It's just a bummer when you need the bathroom desperately and you've put a sweater on over the top. It feels like you're getting completely undressed ;))

I'll take "tomboy cool"! Thank you Jeanne so much x

Adorable, Catherine! I love a striped top any way you deal it, and this looks fab. xox

Ahh soo chic Catherine! I love this look. I love the combo of the dungarees the classic stripe top, smart shoes and tanned leather tote! Speaking of which, sets the whole look off perfectly. Amazingly stylish as always 🙂

Take care and enjoy your Sunday,
