A Female Doctor Who Outfit (If I Were the New Doctor)

Neck bow tie, corduroy blazer, dark skinnies

After seeing the photos of this outfit, I now think (in retrospect) that this should be my Doctor Who outfit.

In other words, if I were the next Doctor – yes, a female Doctor! – this is what I’d wear. A little bit Matt Smith (blazer), a little bit William Hartnell (neck bow tie), a little bit me (skinnies and pointed flats). Which is apt, considering I wore this the day we went out for a late afternoon meal then rushed back home to catch the first episode of the new series. And yes, I approve of the new Doctor 😉

I love masculine touches in an outfit now and then: a corduroy blazer and a crisp white shirt with a velvet neck bow tie; clubmaster style sunglasses (mine aren’t Ray Ban unfortunately); dark denim with pointed flats to add a certain smartness (is that a word?) to the whole look. I had absolutely no intention of dressing the part that day… it just happened, and I happen to think it’s very Whovian.

What about you – what would you wear if you were the new Doctor? Would you go for something masculine chic like me, or something more feminine? Where would your inspiration come from (previous Doctors, the catwalk, celebrities)? Do share in the comments, I’d love to know!

You are definitely up there as a first female Doctor contender. I didn't think Peter Capaldi's Malcolm Tucker character could be beaten by anything else he does but I was wrong.

You would make an AMAZING Mrs. Doctor Who in this outfit, dearest Catherine!! Love the retro feel (and juicy colour!) of this corduroy blazer…and those funky sunglasses!! As for my own Whovian look?? I think I'd be a little steampunk-inspired; maybe a leather corset over a white peasant blouse, my favourite striped skinny jeans…plus goggles and a feather-plumed top hat!! ;D

Never watched the new Doctor Who but I hear it is good!

(remember watching it in the late 70's? He had crazy curly hair and that incredibly long scarf!)

those were the days. : )

(I'm looking forward to wearing my blazers again as the weather changes.)

That was Tom Baker with the hair and the long scarf – he was the Doctor Who of my childhood. Probably the most bonkers Dr Who of all…!

I like the combination of the short corduroy blazer and high waisted denim skinnies. Will have to check out that new doctor after the good reviews he's getting here 😉

aw loved this from the moment i saw the title! (dr who fan over here) and yes i quite liked the new Dr.. surprisingly! it took me ages to like Matt Smith (who i then ended up absolutely loving) so i feel its quite good that i have already taken to him. David Tennant is still my favourite.. who's yours?
And the outfit? of the outfit is just so wonderful, the blazer is just such a great piece, i had something similar years ago and now i totally wish i'd kept them. those jeans are the perfect fit also! FYI your legs look FANTASTIC in them!!
Happy Friday (nearly) my sweet friend xxxxx

Smartness! Yes, if that's not a word, it should be. I could only hope I would pull together something as smart and original as you've donned. The jacket color, velvet bow tie… Love it:) Just love it. You definitely have fun with your clothes.

Love it, and yes it's well and good time for a female Doctor. I do like the newest, older Doctor though : >

I agree Patti – did you know Peter Capaldi was announced a whole YEAR ago as the next Doctor…? Where has the last 12 months gone?!!

  11. 27 August 2014 / 9:54 pm

Yes, you could pass as the next regeneration of the Doctor. :o) I would have to include a bit of the 4th Doctor in my inspiration (as I truly have plans to make a loooooooong scarf) along with some of the 9th, 10th, and 11th Doctors. :o)

Aww Gina thank you!! The pointed flats are infinitely more flattering than any other flats – it's the only style I'll wear with skirts and dresses.

Hello Catherine could you let me know the brand of your jeans- they look lovely and high waisted which I love!

    • 28 August 2014 / 9:31 am

Hi Nicola they're from Zalando (brand: Pieces) but they're a couple of years old. But the Pieces jeans do generally still look like this 🙂
